This edition is totally unreadable. It's set in a tiny 7 or 8pt font, with enormous 1.25" margins. None of the illustrations are included. It looks like they just printed out a PDF of the ebook and clicked "fit to page".Find a better edition of this book, this one's a waste of paper.

very informative. Just wish the kindle version had the illustrations as they are so much a part of the info.

love love love this book!!! personally i have bene into egyptology since i was a child when we went to see king tuts treasures at the museum, i find the whole subject facinating, i highly suggest reading this

My great granddaughter has been interested in archaelogy for years, so I am treating her seriously with this book for professionals. She loves it.

I have no quarrel with the original book by Maspero - it is deservedly famous - but this low-priced edition is more than dissapointing. The publishers promote it as a "High Quality Paperback." Although the binding is not too bad, and I haven't yet found any obvious errors such as one often finds in scanned books, it looks like it has been typed out on a word processor and then printed with the least amount of ink possible to leave a barely readable copy. The text is faded and difficult to read except under a strong light. All of the many illustrations have been removed and none of the page numbers in the index are correct. It was not advetised with any warning of such limitations and, therefore, I feel badly cheated. There are many other editions of this book on the market and presumably some of them are of acceptable quality. I strongly suggest potential buyers choose an edition other than this one by Filoquarian Publishing in Minneapolis. And beware of their other publications too - which may well be equally "Low Quality Paperbacks." John E. Hill.

Excellent book, informative and detailed, it's and old book and quite dated but some aspects and facts don't change. Plus it's free so no complaints

I'm finding it to be a mine of information but it involves a lot of digging.
