Liberating!
I’ve read some lukewarm reviews of this lens - and a few enthusiastic ones. I’m in the latter camp. I absolutely love it. I’m finding the images far sharper than I expected and beautifully rendered. It feels very sturdy, and is remarkably compact for the range it covers. I expect to leave this lens on my OM-1 for everything but ultra long range shots, when I’ll use my 100-400 Pano, or indoor very low light, when I’ll use the 12-40 F2.8 Pro. To be able to cover so many genres of photography with just one lens is truly liberating. Now, at least I’ll never miss a shot because I’ve fitted the wrong lens.

I was looking for a All-in-one kinda deal for my GH5 and I must say that this lens is really good. It's sharp, heavy enough to give you a good grip and stabilization and it can be used for almost everything, from Vlogging to landscape photography to portraits. However, it is not perfect. This lens will not do great on low light situations when it comes to stills because it's not a fixed aperture, the iris will shrink when zooming in, but you can get around when making videos. The zoom ring is really smooth, but it is hard to zoom in when pointing upwards due to how heavy the glass is. The same happens when zooming out when pointing downwards. I also noticed that it will zoom in and out on it's own if you let go of the zoom ring if you're poiting up or down. Gravity will do its trick. I dont have any pics taken with this lens here, but I will update this review and upload some for you to see. Bottom line is, I would recommend this lens to anyone who likes to travel with only one lens insted of several primes.

Pictures come out really dark - great to film with.

Para quien quiera viajar sin tener que andar cargando con varios lentes, éste es el ideal. El único “pero” es el precio, por eso le puse 4 estrellas, pero para quien tome en serio la fotografía, vale la pena.

Not exactly what I'd choose for traveling. It's a big, hunky lens, but with a 12 to 200mm (24 to 400 mm per SLR) range on it at f3.5, it's the all day quality lens you've been looking for. It isn't as good for birds as my longer 75-300mm lens, but it can go wide as well as long ... and it makes me very happy to have ONE lens that can do pretty much anything I need to do. I'm extremely happy with it. Not lightweight, but very high quality.
