Great features and specs for the price
Works great so far, I'll make an updated review if that changes, the router was delivered in a non-branded brown cardboard box but otherwise is like new. Power cables, antennas and manual in the box. Security seems great with built in firewall, VPN (extra charge) malware and virus protection built right in to the RAX50. Great speeds, wifi speed is faster than my old modem/router. Latency seems improved both wired and wireless. Wasn't a huge fan of the setup process needing to be done through the app and no obvious way to do it through the browser on my PC. Maybe I couldn't find it? *Price for the Netgear Armor security is an annual subscription at $100/year for standard, $150/year for "plus" not discounted. But it's optional subscription after the free trial. Subscription services like this are very anti-consumer.

Seamless Setup
Truly a 'plug and play' experience from start to finish. Using previous network credentials provided seamless integration to all connected devices.

Refurbished, failed, tech support issues.
Warning: refurbished product. You do save money but you’ll have problems with tech support due to the item being registered under the original owner’s name. The router worked extremely well for two days and then died. I had a difficult time troubleshooting the device due to the item being registered under someone else’s name. The only saving grace is that amazon stands behind this product and is sending me another unit. I will revisit this review and update my experience. As for now, spend the extra money and avoid the headache.

Only works temporarily
Only works until a firmware update is needed. It is not for long term just to save some money till you can get a good one.

Great first impression!
Internet speed was around 130-150 MBPS, now it's around 320-350 MBPS when right next to the router, and 220-250 MBPS when on a second floor in my home! It's a HUGE jump right off the bat! Setup was easy, took about 15-20 minutes to get it all set up, including changing the Wireless Name and Password for 2.4G, 5G, and Guest Access Points. HOWEVER, the Ethernet Cable that came with it is not backwards compatible with my modem, so I have to use the original Ethernet Cable that came with the old router. Not a problem though! Great first impression.

Great Router, BUT....
TLDR: The first time it connects to the internet, it may try to reflash it's firmware (there's no way to know it's doing that). Unplugging it during that time will brick the unit. So the first time you use it, leave it ON for at least an hour. AND, refurbished units might be registered to the previous owner, so you might not be allowed to register it. Netgear has always produced great products. But there's a huge flaw in this product and a huge problem with buying this way. First, when the router connects to the internet the first time, (and perhaps at regular intervals in the future), it will look for firmware updates and if one exists, it will initiate a firmware re-flash. It is important, (like, REALLY important) to know when hardware is re-flashing it's firmware, because if you unplug in the middle of this operation, it could be rendered completely nonfunctional. That means, if you plug it in just to see it works, then unplug it, it is very likely that you have just done the ONE thing that will "brick" the whole thing. This is exactly what I did, and exactly why it was so confusing. The router seemed to work perfectly when I connected it temporarily, but after disconnecting my old router and mounting the new one, nothing worked. I spent hours trying troubleshooting this issue, which was a big, BIG, waste of my time. Fortunately, holding the recessed "reset" button down for ten seconds will recover the unit. Now, the huge problem with buying a reconditioned unit. This unit came from "Amazon Renewed Store", which means someone else tried this unit first. If that person REGISTERED the router, then you will NOT be allowed to register it without contacting Netgear support, which may or may not help. Registration is not required to use the router, but you won't get any warrantee from Netgear, nor can you add to your fleet of routers if you use a Netgear account to manage your hardware. So, bottom line, this is a great router. But the first time you plug it in, LEAVE IT PLUGGED FOR AN HOUR OR TWO. And if you don't mind getting a unit which can't be registered, it's a great price.
