Q: no water flow in to humidifier

I'm not sure I understand your problem, but if you're wondering if this solenoid will solve the no flow problem, chances are, it will. The valve in these things get gummed up with dried calcium from water and stop allowing flow. In some cases they can be cleaned out, but most times, not. If that is the problem, this will solve it. Hope this helps.

Are you sure the part number is 990-48? Look closely, it might be 990-46. Go to http://www.generalairparts.com/ to see a picture. If it is 990-46, then part 990-53 should work. I replaced my 990-46 with a 990-53 rated at 24 volts and it works great. I have a GeneralAire 1137 model. Hope this helps.

The 990-53 valve might just connect up to the fittings, but is not compatible with your system if you need a 120V/9W solenoid valve. The 990-53 operates from 24V. Your 120 Volt supply will burn it out.
