Max 167 degrees Farenheit
Follow up:This product does not exhibit evidence of National Electrical Code certification. That is: it is not UL listed, CSA certified nor European Union approved. Having a tested product shows that the equipment meets a nationally recognized safety standard. Further, I found that the OFF switch only temporarily cuts off heating surface circuit. The hot plate remains energized despite pressing the OFF switch. So, when you return mug (or any weight) on plate the heater switches on by itself. It is for this reason, viz. safety, that I installed an "Inline LampCord Switch".Flat bottom mug like 'KRIPT Flat Bottom Ceramic Mug with Aluminum Plate' (Amazon available) is highly recommended. This is one of the very few warmers boasting a max 167 F temp at source. Efficient heat transfer from hot plate to mug content warrants direct contact between warmer and mug.Warmer surface temp, measured w/non-contact IR instrument, indicated 220+ F. This thingy is HOT. Rest depends on the type of mug you use. Package came in sealed box; brand new. Worked as advertised and described in accompanying literature. Note: the lower the content level (as you drink your coffee) the warmer the liquid content. As an additional, precautionary measure, I may splice in an in-line On/Off switch to completely cutoff power when I leave my upstairs bedroom.

On/Off switch is a potential safety issue
The supplied on/off switch might be better thought of as a way to tell the warmer, "stop heating my coffee until I lift the cup off the base and then replace it back on the warmer...when I do that, then automatically fire yourself back up again, acting as if you had never been turned off in the first place, and continue heating my coffee".The warmer's on/off switch, in other words, does not function like a "normal" on/off wall switch so, from a safety point of view, I'm a bit surprised it's allowed to be sold in the U.S.A previous reviewer solved the "safety issue" by installing a power line switch. I think that was a good idea for anyone who might share his concern.Putting safety aside for the moment, the warmer works great as long as one is using a cup with a relatively flat bottom. Here's an example of a cup I have that didn't work well at all: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CFQUGA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1Here's the cup I ended up using which works very well: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0878GRLYW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Heats up fast and high temp even with a cup that has a base on it!
I've had a couple of these and this one has all the features I like plus it heats up higher than most and quickly. It has 3 temp settings, works with pressure sensitivity so it goes on and off as the cup is placed or removed. But you can also turn it off when the cup is in place! Nice feature as it works as a coaster that way. Looks good, doesn't take up too much room on desk and has a digital readout so you know what temp setting it's on. The controls are nice touch pads so easy to use. Great all around.

Coffee Mug Warmer
Unsafe !! There are so many safety features on this warmer that they actually make it very UNSAFE.Even if you manually turn it off, if anything falls on or is accidently set on the warmer it will "turn on."Example: if the warmer is sitting on your end-table (turned off) but the TV remote gets accidently set on it. It will turn on, heat up and melt your remote. Or if your mail/newspaper (or any paper) is set on it, it will turn on and become a fire hazard. If you had to manually turn it on (after manually turning it off) it would be fine.I do not recommend.

Works just fine.
Good for keeping my coffee or tea warm while I’m at my desk. I like that I don’t have to turn it off and that it remembers the last heat setting it set to after going to sleep. Essentially, the unit stays in sleep mode unless there is a mug. The added weight of the mug presses down on an activation button on the bottom, turning the heat plate back on.

Awesome! Gets up to 167 degrees!
Unlike most other warmers that only go up to 131 degrees, this one has 3 options: 131, 149, and 167. I never use the 131 setting because that is barely warm. So I don’t think any other warmer that only goes up to 131 would be good enough. I usually use the hottest setting, and then sometimes the medium setting when I’m down to the last few sips so that it doesn’t get too hot. While you can put a cold beverage on the warmer, it will take several hours to warm up. But if you put a warm or hot beverage on the warmer, it is just about perfect. I only wish I had 2 so I could keep them in 2 different rooms without having to move them around 🤣

Keeps coffee hot
This was a gift and the recipient loved it. Problem with it. He had to add a switch because even turned off and something was put on it, the plate turned on and got warm. Perhaps he got one with a defect. The addition switch solved the problem.

Great for your office!
My husband is busy on phone calls and meetings that by the time he can drink his coffee it is always cold and had to reheat. So I got him the coffee mug warmer and it works great! keeps his coffee warm until the end.
