Definitely runs small... I ordered the 2XL, per previous reviews, and glad I did! It fits perfect. My true size is 7 5/8. Rides a little higher on the head than anticipated, but probably contributes to the very light and airish feel. Sculpting wire in the brim, is the solution to a problem I never knew I had. Love it! It's only in the front and back. Chin/head strap is versatile, effective, and we'll made. Good looking and feeling hat. Will see how it holds up, but I expect to be coming back for replacements and/or additional colors.

I've known of UF Pro's products for a number of years now, and I can say I've never been disappointed in their product lines for people involved in every facet of tactical type environments. End users have first hand knowledge of what works and what doesn't when it comes to keeping cool in the Amazonian like jungle heat, on the ocean in a boat where there's little shade, or in a hide waiting to ensnare a future meal in their sights. So when this company came out with a style of boonie hat almost identical to how I modified mine many years ago to keep me cooler in the summer, I jumped in with both feet like a paratrooper in heat! It came in and I immediately threw it on and experienced several nostalgic memories I'd made in my youth. Not only was this boonie very affordable, especially for someone on a very tight budget, (who isn't these days!?) but comfort, color availability, and fit were spot on! Living in the southeast United States, summers can get brutal with humidity driving up the 'feels like' temperatures, and add in the occasional trip east into Texas or Arizona dry heat along the border, this hat excelled in keeping the sun and sweat out of my eyes! Venting was added in all the right places for relevant air flow over the head, as well as loop fabric for identifying patches where needed. A stiff wire added to the front and rear brims adds an even better adaptability in configuring for rain water run off or throwing off the human shape element of blending camouflage. Overall a great piece of kit!

Best Boonie hat ever!!! This thing comes already "Boonied" as much as it needs to be. With wired brim in front and back, you can style it any way you want, which I love, because I can adjust how much coverage I have from the sun on the fly. The fit was perfect, and it was so lightweight it's almost like you aren't wearing anything. It is also very breathable for these ultra hot late summer days. Perfect for hunting, mowing, or fishing.

I'm taking a star away because the sizing is deceiving. Luckily I listened to everyone and I sized up. I wear a medium full face motorcycle helmet. The sizing chart here said I'll be size Large, but I ordered XL and honestly I think I could've gone bigger since the XL feels like in the smaller side. The problem is not the circumference, rather the depth of the hat. The XL measures roughly around 2.5-3 inches, where as a standard baseball cap depth measures 4 inches. But then again, you don't want this to be too deep where the sides sit on top of your ear, where as the baseball cap woulr sit behind your ears. Checkout the pictures of this against a tactical baseball cap.

I love this hat! Well made. I will agree on some things that others reviewed. The hat isn’t very deep. I don’t mind that but others might. It feels official, like it’s milspec. Fits me well and I also like that there is wire in the brim so you can shape it which ever way you need to. Great for the beach or for outdoor activities where you need some shade.

How did I ever get along without THIS boonie hat ??? The wire in the brim is bendable and REALLY enhances the usability ! The chin cord is moveable and will make you hat fit REALLY well if you order a size up; you can adjust the tightness of the brim. The vent holes really work too !. It's a little pricey for a boonie hat, but trust me, this one will spoil you for any others. PLEASE MAKE THESE IN MORE COLORS/PATTERNS !!!

There were so many pictures of this hat being worn in the 'Merc-Fisherman' style, I wanted to show that with the wire brim you can also wear it à la 'Goofy Cowboy". The tan color is also very light- a lot lighter than it looks in most of the photos. Imagine my face with pale Irish skin, and you have an idea. I think the camera was trying to "correct" me... (Appreciate the attempt.) The pic on the car seat is much closer in terms of tint, but not quite the right temperature. It's a VERY comfortable soft cotton which doesn't dry as fast as some of the lighter, thinner fabrics (nylon, polyester), but it is very comfy. Have not had an issue with sun coming through the mesh and tanning/burning, it's well placed and minimal. (I'm not bald, but I do have some thinner spots that can really burn if I don't wear anything in heavy sun. Quality is very good
