Will these work to hang curtains?

That is why i purchased them. Ideally they work, however the hooks are really small & my existing curtain rod is bigger in diameter. I had to bend the hooks to open them a little more to get them to fit the rod.

Can I use these to hang christmas lights on alluminum siding?

Yes.I used mine to hang lights on a gutter and they worked perfect.
