I bought this for my Xbox after a less reputable brand of SSD failed after three months. As of this review that drive at 512gb is only $17 less than this drive at 2tb. Um...some would call that a "no brainer." Especially since prices in the hardware tech space has gone through the roof lately. Relative good value is much appreciated. As is the solid quality and backing of this product. With all the latest tech hardware we have today considering storage, its easy to take for granted a good HDD can still get the same job done as a SSD. It did for decades before SSDs became common, and it still does. Though some may have different use cases that require speedier performance and ability, for simple storage, transfers, downloading and the like? HDDs such as this are as solid a choice as ever, and have become a great value as well. This unit works GREAT for my backward compatible Xbox games. I have 600gb worth on the drive with room to spare. Seamless, speedy, smooth operation. And unlike the budget brand SSD I left behind, its backed by a solid warranty from a company that stands behind its products. I won't be overlooking "old school tech" anymore when it comes to my data storage needs going forward. "Tried and true" can still go a long way.

This hard drive is a great purchase. I haven't even used half of it'S 2 TB after downloading every game from my Xbox onto it. It runs nice and smooth, its small and looks very nice.. My Xbox has never ran this smooth before. Great quality. I defenatly recommend this purchase

Almost perfect! Does everything it claims to, but i still had some hopes for more. Connection wise, works on the second time you plug it in, the application automatically launches and asks you if you want to use it for games or apps and music. Works pretty quick, although the 500mb per sec is notably slower than the series X’s 2.4 gigs per sec limit, so it doesn’t really work for most new games. but older games and apps are perfect for this drive. I bought a used one, which only had 1.8tb of storage when it was supposed to be 2tb… but i suppose being not a new one i can get over it, so marginal data loss. Summary, a rugged shelled, overcompensating hard drive that does exactly what WD says it should and absolutely nothing else. if you’re wanting to download games to this and transfer it console to console, you need a seagate 2tb or more which is like over the price of a series s by itself. But if you’re just wanting some spare space and don’t mind shuffling your games around slowly for robust storage capacity, look no further. The 6tb strikes me as a bargain and a ton of storage in one spot.

Love this! I’m so happy I got it to help keep my games in order and in a safe place that I can’t lose them.

I bought it for backups. On Arch Linux / Windows 10 plug and play, no drivers needed. Speeds are 88~90mb on both OS. If you're looking for something to work out of the box and portable, this is the right one for you.
