Mini Rest with 5/8" PostF

I use this tool rest several times a week, and it works very well. It stays in place in the fixture. The top rail is very smooth and is shaped with a contouring shape to allow my hand to slide along it smoothly as I am moving along while cutting.

I have a mid sized wood lathe. The stock tool rest was rough so I filed it smooth. Better but after using it it gets nicked so I smooth it again. annoying. I get the Robust mini rest in two sizes and no more filing. The surface that your tool rests on is hardened so it is unlikely you will get nicks on it. Worth every penny to buy the good stuff

Amazing upgrade

This is a great upgrade for my Nova Comet 2. I was a little surprised at how light it is compared to my original cast iron rest that came with the lathe. I kind of wish I had gotten the 9 inch for a few dollars more, I have to move it quite often on larger pieces and it doesn't reach far into a bowl. This is my fault for not thinking it through and has nothing to do with Robust. My tools glide over the top and it shouldn't get dinged up like the stock cast rest.

This Robust rest is definitely high quality and is much better than the one that came with my lathe. I look forward to many years of use of the rest. One thing that is immediately noticed is the smoothness of the inserted metal rod compared to the rest that came with my lathe.

Nice fit and finish. A little pricey , but they work nice.
