Common sense
In a nutshell, encourage your child to talk by talking to them during play. Tell them what you are doing, be interested in what they are doing, ask questions and give options. There I've saved you some.money and the time spent reading the above in 25 different games. The introduction us great but the rest is filler.

For start of speech only
The book only addresses the beginning of speech development- how to prompt the child to use basic words and speech. Nothing to use with my struggling almost-4-year-old who is behind other children in his class and therefore prefers non verbal communication.I just wish the description of the book would have been more detailed.

Book not what it seems. Don't buy.
This book has pages that were not printed. For instance, the introductory chapter ends mid sentence, and the rest is blank. The book then skips to page 4 and, again, has blank pages. It skips pages throughout. Waste of money and a concern for anyone else who buys this book.

Lots of good ideas.
Very pleased with this book. My grandson is non verbal and also doesn't play with toys in a typical way. This has given me some ideas as to how I can engage him in play. The book is easy to read and has a sensible approach.
