2 levels of red light is very nice to have
This 300 lumen headlamps have accompanied me through many tours, and field exercises. Not only it has a bright white light when it is needed, it also offers two level of red light brightness setting. It defaults to just adjusting red light setting, and only upon long press, it'll trigger the white light. It does not consume a lot of battery, and after several weeks, I am still using my original battery, so it is pretty efficient. This can be mounted on a Tac vest or plate carrier, which is pretty convenience as well. It is a recommended by for those who needs to have a red light capability at night.

Works, fits comfortably
The reason I knock one star off is because you have to cycle through to get the light chosen. There should be a separate button for colour, and white LEDs like the browning lamps. The beam cannot be focused, it is a wide type beam if that is what you are looking for.

Bright, lightweight, almost perfect headlamp
Initially got this for camping, but now I find myself using it around the house, too. May not be as bright, or have as long a runtime as other lamps at the same price point, but the 'tactical' switch far outweighs any cons this headlamp may have, in my opinion. The red LEDs are great for working around camp, but you obviously can't differentiate colours, and there's a hit to depth perception, as well. The white LED is very bright, and good for searching for firewood, hiking, setting up a bear hang, etc. The batteries easily lasted a 3 night trip, even arriving at each site close to nightfall, but using the red LEDs whenever possible. And probably could've gone another night. You should bring extra batteries is you're out for longer. Now the cons: I believe the electronics are watertight, but the battery compartment is not. This isn't a huge problem, as the batteries will still work wet, but corrosion might build on the contacts over time.Exclusively using the white LED will kill the batteries in one, maybe two nights; the difference between high and low settings is almost nothing. If you don't care about preserving night vision, get the model with all white LEDs. Otherwise, even with some annoyances, it's still a worthwhile headlamp.EDIT: Unit is not watertight at all.
