Gentex GENK20A Auto Dimming Mirror W/compass Temperature

I actually enjoyed installing this mirror! I installed it in under 2 hrs thanks to the well written and descriptive instructions. Very professional wiring harness and connections. Wiring loom included. I provided a couple zip ties to keep the installation tidy. They really did a great job with the entire mirror. All I had to do was identify the switched ignition wire on my 1993 GMC truck. Everything was high quality and well done. They made it so simple to install. I love it! The sensor probe came with OEM-looking pinch clip style mounting hardware. I installed it exactly where they recommended on the backside of my grille facing forward into the fresh air. This will no doubt give me accurate temperature readings. The mirror looks identical to the mirrors in the newer vehicles. I bought the auto dimming mirror with the compass and temperature. No homelink or Onstar for me, thank you very much. I didn't even bother to take the time to calibrate the compass. The mirror calibrated itself on my way to work the next day. The glass has a larger viewing area than the 1993 stocker. I can see clearly. Be aware that objects are just slightly closer than they appear. I prefer to have a wider field of view rather than the exact distance 1:1 from objects behind me. I tested the auto dimming function using a flashlight and it works great. Darkens quickly and lightens back up just as fast. I don't have a reason to be out driving at night, but I'm sure it would be easier on my old eyeballs seeing how dark it does go when bright light is detected. Highly recommend!

My vehicle is a 02 Tahoe that I have owned since new and the factory mirror temp/compass display would not work at times without a "slight" tap on the side of the mirror. If the factory mirror was available it is expensive so I tried a used one I ordered from Ebay, (the local pick and pull is over 40 miles away, Ebay was easier). Everything seemed okay when I installed it during the winter but when summer came the compass / temp display was almost impossible to read it was so washed out. Since it was past the return time and I knew that this mirror is from the oe supplier, I decided to fix this once and for all. Installed the mirror, plugged in the 7-way connector and everything powered up correctly. Calibrated the compass and set the location and I was done. If you need a wiring diagram, search out the reviews, some have pictures of the terminal locations and wiring colors. If you need more, search out a vehicle like my Tahoe for diagnosis and install.

Easy to install, did it myself, if you have some basic auto knowledge.
