I'm going to be connecting my sewer hose by pvc pipe,do i need this item? where exactly does this go?

This piece is not for pvc pipe. It works with another connector specifically for camper, motor home etc sewer systems

The Valterra T1029-2 is a 3" Bayonet x 3" Hub Adapter. The hub is a female, made to glue over 3" ABS pipe. The dimensions of the Hub are: ID 3.500" and the OD is 3.950".

Can you glue this to a standard 3" pvc/abs pipe, or is it a special fitting?
