shockingly bad activity detection makes Arlo Pro 3 and expensive mistake
After over a week of using the Arlo Pro 3 with 2 cameras I have come to the conclusion that the activity detection features simply do not work reliably and that the s/w behind this must be beta level at best. In the front of my house I have a small terrace, a driveway and then a main road. I don't want to capture all the vehicles passing by on the main road and I tried several ways to achieve this none of which workedMETHOD 1:- In settings just enabled "person" activity. This still produced notifications and recordings of vehicles driving by, especially at peak traffic time. So many false positives produced with video recordings that I don't want to see.METHOD 2:- Setup activity zones for front of house and driveway but excluding the main road. This stopped all activity notifications entirely and was hence useless.

Look elsewhere!
The hardware looks great, but the detection software is poor. Activity Zones, simply don't work - the only way to remove false positives from wind causing bushes and shadows to move, is to reduce the field of view to a ridiculously small area EXACTLY framing your door/path/target and avoid Activity Zones - believe me, I've tried evry variant possible including reducing the motion detection to low, deleting activity zones, having a single activity zone EXACTLY framing my target (with no bushes, shadows etc.)The mobile software logs me out very often and I can't log back in - it tells me that I'm not connected to the internet even though every other software works, and I'm here posting a review (connected to the internet).I did raise the issue with their support, but was basically given a scripted response to delete and reset everything and start again - this is akin to a IT support desk asking you to turn your computer off and on.I can't compare these to other cameras, and at least they do detect people in the small target area I'm forced to use, but I could have got this from a cheap setup which didn't advertise all of the additional functionality, which hasn't worked.

This system really does the job
This system is great value for $. really easy to set up. And it works just like they advertise that it would! I have read some of the complaints and suspect that issues would occur if you have insufficient upload speed. Battery life is certainly dependent on how may times a camera is activated so I suspect that it is not great if it is in a busy location.

Arlo provided new camera within warranty period due to faulty motion sensors.
Arlo through Amazon with less than 6 months of use developed a motion sensor defect in the Arlo Pro camera system which constantly give alerts without any recording of the motion alerts. Wrote to customer support and within 2 weeks I received a replacement set (new) cameras. Thanks for the quick response, definitely give Arlo for my next purhcase of "smart" home devices.
