has anybody used this on a linux computer with success?

I'm using this device with Linux Mint right now. It follows standard "usb audio" interface and requires no special drivers.

The middle (black) connector is.. the green connector is standard stereo and the pink/red a mono mic...

how many volts does it have to power my microphone?

The link you provided is for a 48v phantom power supply. That would power larger condenser mics. Lapel ("lavalier") condenser mics only need approx 2-3 volts.

Does in work on dell lap tops?
