It works like it’s supposed to!
If you have painted shut windows and need them opened, this is the tool for you! A simple, purposed driven tool that just works. Makes quick work of painted shut windows. I love it!

yes, it actually works -- and works well
So is this really going to be better than using a flat head screwdriver, or a knife? The answer is yes. I was left with several windows that the painter should have made sure we freed up but didn't. I had tried previously to free the windows with a screwdriver and a steak knife but failed. This tool is thin enough to slide into the crack you are trying to separate. It is essentially a very thin saw that lets you easily make flush cuts into the paint that needs to be separated. I was able to free a window in5 to 10 minutes that I previously failed on. I used a crowbar to finally lift the window (from the outside). The tool is very thin, as it has to be. Be careful not to bend it, never try to pry something with it.

Works well
This product worked for the windows we needed it for. It's pretty thin, and I don't think it's a tool that could be used a lot without wearing out...but it did the trick for us. Price was right. Arrived right on time.

Great tool !!!
This is the best thing I have found yet for getting old windows open. It will cut through not only old paint, but also old caulk, silicone and even will trim out the wood when the wood has swelled in the casing. It is well worth the money, and I am really glad I bought one. I will probably buy another one just in case I break or lose this one.

Works Perfectly! I Can't Believe It
I watched the video where somebody was showing how to use this tool to open windows that were painted shut. All the windows in my house were painted shut before I bought it. I was afraid that was going to have to hire somebody to come and get them all open and risk breaking the windows. But I tried this tool and if you use it exactly like the directions instruct, it works wonderfully. I have gotten three windows open today in about 45 minutes. So impressed. So happy.

let the tool do the work
Contrary to other suggestions I recommend not using the tip or pointed end for prodding. This is a small saw blade so #1 keep the tool flat against the window #2 using the lower rounded edge pull down and apply sideward pressure to allow the blade to cut...let the tool do most of the cutting. As the tool begins to cut swing the tip of the tool toward the seam. The blade is held in place by a rounded holder which allows the blade to enter the seam and as it digs in. After muliple passes begin to apply pressure to rounded holder of the tool, not the blade rotating the blade with your wrist Works like a charm and has been suggested it will saw away at excessive wood if the window is binding. Let the tool do the work

Very easy to break blade
Works best if get paint wet. Water might work. Isopropyl alcohol “melts” paint faster.

Useful tool for opening windows painted shut
Have used this tool to cut through the paint on our windows that had been painted shut. It worked very nicely. It works well getting it in around the edge of the window and then tapping the back of it with a hammer or rubber mallet to push it through the paint and cut it.

It Works!!!!
This was the ONLY thing that could get my heritage home’s sash windows open. I put off ordering due to price and figured I would only be using it once. It got to a point where I could not take the frustration any longer so I ordered this and BOY did it make my day when I finally opened those damn windows.

Instant Success
Couldn’t recommend this more for those looking to remove paint from a painted shut sash window. Made easy work of thick poorly applied paint. Finally have fresh air to my bathroom!
