This needs a $300 piece of software to operate ...ridiculous

It scans like it is suppose to scan.
BUT, the cord is already shorting out. If it isn't in just the right position , it won't scan. This is what happened to our last one before it totally gave out.

happy with this purchase
I purchased two of these scanners but did not have enough information to realize I needed to purchase additional software for our office use. I have used the support and they are good. There is a bit of a wait time for technical assistance. Have had to call them three times after windows updates etc.
