Trading with Intermarket Analysis: A Visual Approach to Beating the Financial Markets Using Exchange-Traded Funds (Wiley Trading): 9781119210016: Economics Books @ desertcart.com Review: Must read for any investor - For those looking at the 4 stars and wondering if it is really worth the buy I would like to offer this suggestion. This is a must read if you are an investor or trader but make sure you buy the kindle version instead of the hard copy. The reason is that the only complaints you will find about this book is the font size with the content so thorough and easy to understand that you will learn a great deal whether you are a casual investor buying indexes and mutual funds or a technical analysts who thinks they know everything there is to know about the markets. I have read countless books on investing by every top writer you can think of and I put this book in my top five since it brings everything together so well. It not only clearly shows relationships and early indicators of market shifts but also walks you through all the recent market collapses and shows you how you could have spotted them early and either exited the market before too much damage was done or profited from the short side. In summary it is not a purchase that you will regret. Review: I leared a lot - The author takes you through all of the major intermarket trends mainly through charts. One thing I really liked is that the charts were usually on the same page or opposite the text, making it easy to see what you were reading. The charts were also in color which also added greatly to see what was going on. I thought John Murphy did a great job explaining all of the intermarket relationships. I certainly learned a lot from this book which will be very helpful to me in the future. It will help with identifying long term trends in the various markets which is great if you are concerned about your 401K. The book could have been made better by explaining in more detail why some of the relationships exist i.e. why the Dollar Index affects bond prices, etc. Other than that the book does what it says it will. BTY - this review is in reference to the printed version, not the Kindle. I personally don't like to read trading books on Kindle due to difficulty in reading graphs/charts on Kindle.

Comprehensive, Factual and Up To Date Analysis
John has once again written a book that is highly informative showing how many key inter-market relationships continue to work and also why changes have taken place to others following market developments. He encourages the reader to take a broader view of the markets both across the asset classes and from an international perspective, highlighting that things happen in the markets for a reason and the analyst must uncover why through this type of analysis. The book is a must read for the new and experienced analyst or trader, it compliments traditional technical analysis and is packed with factual relationships that put the odds of improved success in ones favour. The book ends with some ideas on what may happen in the coming years but that requires ongoing analysis and focus on the inter-market relationships as they unfold!

This one is not designed to teach you to tie knots like most trading system books
A must have reference if you want to read the weather coming tomorrow when you are on the open ocean in your little sail boat. This one is not designed to teach you to tie knots like most trading system books. This is designed to give you the knowledge that stops you getting side swiped by the big storms coming that can sink your account .It also educates you to the point whereby you can really understand his newsletter on Stockcharts. This is the best market navigation book ever written. It allows me to sleep well at night with the confidence that I will be able to adjust position size before the big event that can change everything. The signs are obvious if you pay attention to the map of relationships described in this book.It simplifies the Macro picture and allows a timely decision before things get critical...perfect for the storm on the horizon!

A great foundation to understand how stocks, bonds, commodities, currency and interest rates are all connected
Excellent book!!! This should be required reading for all serious investors. I wish I had this book 20 years ago when I first started investing. This clearly explains how the markets are all inter-rated to each other. Stocks, bonds, commodities, currency and interest rates are all related to each other and this book explains how and why. Mr. Murphy continuously repeats major key points several times throughout the book, which is a good thing. Also sector rotation, indices and groups, ratios.....all of that is covered. A great foundation. A must read.

GREAT BOOK!!!
I am a professional investment manager and an advisor to other money managers. I read financial books non-stop. At this point in my career my only goal is to find one good idea in any new book that I read. I can judge a book by how much highlighting I have in the book when finished reading. I usually highlight one line and then throw the book away. John Murphy's new book has at least 50% of the text highlighted. I've read both of his past intermarket analysis books and they were okay, but this new book is one of the most important books on investing that I've come across. I do not know John Murphy. My advice is to buy this book.

Doesn't explain :why"; just tells historical happened!
Full of historical trends and stories about the interrelationship between asset classes. But simply knowing that it happened that way wont help unless we know why those happened. I am looking for a book that goes deep into "why".

One of the most thorough works on inter market analysis. The book reads like a historical account of the financial markets but explaining it from an inter market perspective. It is a great resource to identify long term trends and benefit from them. The book covers events up to 2012-13 but as I read this book in early 2018, the financial market trends of the last 5 years makes so much sense in the context of the concepts revealed in the book.

I read John Murphy's Intermarket Analysis two times, one time the 2004 edition and now the 2013 edition. The 2013 edition is wonderfully written. Murphy explains Intermarket Principles very clearly and there are also some questions at the end of the chapters to test your knowledge. I really recommend it, this book is better than any book about economics.
