From "No Thanks" to Total Curiosity: A Developmental Win
Safe, Soft-Sided "Lunchbox" Sorter – A Developmental Favorite We originally bought this for our daughter when she was 6 months old, but she wasn’t quite ready for it yet. Now that she is nearly 9 months old, her curiosity has really kicked in! It’s been wonderful watching her development catch up to the toy. Why we love it: • Injury-Free Design: Unlike traditional hard-plastic sorters, this one is shaped like a small lunchbox and covered in cloth. It’s incredibly lightweight, so if she accidentally bumps into it or it tips over, there’s no risk of her getting hurt. • Safety & Size: The block shapes are a decent size—large enough to be safe and avoid choking hazards. I still supervise her during play, but the design gives me great peace of mind. • Engaging & Low-Maintenance: The colors are vibrant and immediately caught her eye. While she hasn't quite mastered matching the shapes to the correct slots yet, the "trial and error" process is fun for her (and us!). Plus, the cloth exterior looks like it will be very easy to spot-clean with a baby wipe if it gets messy. Bottom Line: This is a fantastic, safer alternative to hard-plastic toys. It’s portable, durable, and definitely worth the purchase for a growing baby!

The Shape Sorter That Sorts Fun, Too!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5 Stars – The Shape Sorter That Sorts Fun, Too! Let me just say—this little Melissa & Doug Take-Along Shape Sorter has earned its seat at the toy MVP table. I got this for my twin granddaughters and it became an instant hit—and not just with them, but with me too. Why? Because it’s soft, smart, and travel-friendly. Which makes it the exact opposite of my diaper bag. Here’s the scoop from one very entertained Nana: 🧩 Two sides of fun – One side’s all about sorting shapes, and the other has crinkly flaps with pictures underneath. It’s basically a toddler version of peek-a-boo meets geometry. 🧩 Nine textured blocks – These chunky little blocks are the perfect size for tiny hands (and yes, for occasional taste-testing). Each one is a different shape and color, so it’s a sensory party in every toss. 🧩 Soft and squishy – The whole thing is padded, which means if someone flings it across the room (and they will), no harm done. 🧩 Handle included! – The take-along handle is clutch. This sorter’s been to the car, grandma’s house, the porch, and one adventurous trip to the pediatrician’s waiting room. What I love most is that it’s not just fun—it’s sneaky smart. My granddaughters were learning colors, matching, textures, and problem-solving, all while giggling and clapping for themselves like tiny shape-sorting champions. Also? It folds up so nicely that it actually fits back in the toy bin without a wrestling match. 🙌 Final thoughts: Whether you’re looking to entertain your little one, sneak in some developmental skills, or just enjoy 10 minutes of peaceful shape-throwing—you can’t go wrong with this. It’s soft, it’s colorful, and it’s full of “aha!” moments in the cutest little package.

Great, on-the-go, functional sorting
It’s about the size of a lunchbox! Very cute. Nice colors that aren’t TOO bright (iykyk). I love that it’s a zipper lid because any other sorting toy the lid never stays on. Perfect toy for 8+ months. One side is crinkly so that’s the only sound it makes HUGE PLUS. All in all very great. My only complaint is the shapes could possibly slip out but theyd have to line up perfectly.

Must Have Shape/Color Learning Toy! 10/10 Recommend
If you’re shopping around this is THE ONE to get! We have two, the one Ms. Rachel uses (Fisher Price) and this one too. I definitely would recommend this one because the top is sturdy, doesn’t come off unless you unzip it. It has more shapes and colors. It is travel friendly, nice soft back, has a handle for kiddos to carry it around, and is not a pricey item that will last throughout all your kiddos.

Great for baby through toddler years
A favorite of my 10 month old granddaughter. She loves the colorful shapes and likes to play with the flaps on the bottom of the case. This toy is very well constructed and will last a long time. Easy to clean too. This is a toy that will grow with her as her motor skills progress.

Perfect for 1 year old
My kids loved this. It is super easy to use. I got it for a one year old and it was the perfect size for her. I wish storage was better sometimes the little shapes fall out when she’s carrying it.

Great travel toy!
This shape sorter has been a solid toy for my baby. She really enjoys playing with it, especially the textured blocks, and we end up taking it pretty much everywhere — it’s lightweight and easy to pack. The two-sided activity bag keeps her entertained during errands or when we’re out and about. It’s not overly complicated, but it does what it’s supposed to and keeps her busy. A good toy for travel or just something different at home.

Favourite toy
A great toy for babies 12 months and older...our grandson loves carrying around the bag, emptying it and playing with the blocks. He is getting very good at fitting the right blocks into the holes. Highly recommend this educational and fun toy.

Best gift for my niece
I purchased this gift for my niece at Christmas (she was just under 1 at the time) and it has become one of her favourite toys. It is so easy to transport and incredibly versatile for playtime. The blocks are also amazing bath toys!
