When the teleconverter is on your camera and lens can you switch it off or do you need to remove it altogether to return to normal??

The TC-2.0X teleconverter must be removed from camera and lens to return to normal. Note: This teleconverter is only compatible with 3 Nikkor Z lens at this time.

Where is the list of compatible lenses?

As of May 2022, the only lenses compatible with the Z teleconverters are the 70-200, 400 2.8 S, and the 100-400 S lenses.

What is max aperture when attached to the 70-200 f2.8? should be 5.6, but the comment about af not working larger than f11 confuses me.

that is because I was using it on a 100-400mm lens with a different minimum aperture range. On a 70-200 2.8 you will likewise double the aperture so, yes, 5.6
