Rock solid!
First may I say this system is not for the faint of heart, or newb. It was not in my experience plug and play like many of the big box store products. Working through many errors during setup took a lot of time (firmware updates required OOB which are not easy to apply before the device is adopted, unable to adopt errors, UAPs dropped after reboots requiring them to be adopted again which doesn't always work .......) That being said, why did I give 5 stars! After successful setup, the UniFi system is ROCK SOLID!The system is used for SOHO network and consists of the Security Gateway, 24 port PoE switch, cloud key Gen 2 and 3 nanoHD UAPs. By comparison, it replaced a network that consisted of a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 router plus 3 Netgear range extenders.UniFi Pros:- Current uptime is 71d 21h 47m 20s and counting without a single issue!- Performance is stellar! Download speeds are consistently high - considerably above what I'm paying for from Xfinity and double what the Netgear system ever achieved.- In addition, download speeds remain consistently high ( > 400 mbps ) where Netgear would frequently slow down to less than < 1 mbps requiring a reboot (angry face emoji).- Never any buffering with UniFi!!- The UniFi system's wifi strength everywhere far exceeds the Netgear system with 3 extenders.- Never a dropped device connection!! The Netgear would constantly drop devices from the network requiring a reboot (angry face emoji). Currently the system has ~ 60 connected devices and not 1 has ever dropped.- Manageability is off the chains!!! The Unifi software is so robust I've barely scratched the surface. The fact that the system is ROCK SOLID hasn't necessitated I get deeper into the capabilities of the system. I will at some point delve deeper into the security features.Cons :- Initial setup was for me challenging. I'm a software guy, not a Linux nor a networking guy. If you're not comfortable with the command line, tools like PuTTY, basic Unix commands, etc. you may find initial setup challenging as well.- The fans in the USG and switch are on the loud side. Fortunately for me I have the system in a separate room in the basement so noise isn't an issue.- The system is on the expensive side $$$ and probably overkill for a SOHO network but if you want a rock solid system, I still recommend it.I'm not an employee, just an evangelist! After the constant frustrations of my last SOHO network, this system is nirvana. I never even think about it. Everything just works and works well - just as it should be.

Easier adoption than anticipated
I purchased this security gateway as part of a long-planned migration to a Ubiquiti system. I installed two Unifi WAPs several years ago and had a fair amount of experience with the controller software that gave me the courage to make the jump. To be clear, I’m not an IT professional, just a hobbyist with desire to harden and standardize my home network while developing some new skills. The first and largest challenge was the fact that I needed to adopt the gateway into a network which did not use its default address. Fortunately, there is quite a bit of good information out there that allowed me to understand and prepare for that part of the adventure. In the end, I opted to use the command line interface to modify the IP address of the gateway. The device was adopted into LAN uneventfully and I’m very pleased with the outcome. I’ll confess that I was concerned by some of the comments about the fan noise. After I powered the device up for the first time and gave it some time to warm up, it became clear that the noise levels were higher than I would be able to tolerate. Like several other users, I made the decision to replace the stock fans with ones from Noctua which were quieter. The change took all of 10 minutes and resulted in significantly quieter operation (and, probably, a newly voided warranty). The temperatures have been within normal limits, but I added a fan to the rack I can fire up if necessary. Bottom line: I’m happy with the gateway — I believe the LAN to be more secure now and appreciate the tight integration with the other Ubiquiti components.

Works really well
We have three small offices we've connected with these. We're a software shop and one office has especially fast internet. It has no problem driving top speed. Setup is pretty easy and straightforward with cloud keys, IPSec is super easy to form site-to-site vpn, L2TP/IPSec is easy to setup for remote users. We also still run openvpn for some legacy users. That was a bit more challenging but doable in an hour with some googling. We swapped a number of linux boxes out and put these in and have noticed much better network performance, especially latency and have less to manage/maintain now, which is nice. Also, I'm not as worried about our linux boxes being up to date and hardened/leaving some security detail that can be exploited.I would add ... UniFi products work really well and they are easy to setup and especially easy to manage with their cloud key, if you truly understand networking. But novices be warned, If you don't you may find their equipment challenging. There are no simple 1,2,3 docs.So IMHO, this is really good quality stuff, the closest you can get to high-end cisco gear without the high price.
