We've used these several times before, always with good success. We sometimes buy dry food in bulk when there's a good sale and then repackage in Mylar bags with these Oxygen absorbers. They work great and if we squeeze most of the air out of the bag before we seal it, these units will absorb so much O2 that a vacuum is created and the bag sucks in around the product. Good price too. In the past, the O2 sensing pill has not changed color when exposed to air but we always look for the bag vacuum and don't much care. We store unused packets in a pint Mason jar with a fresh lid and ring on it.

I love the 3 packs of 20 so I didn't need to open them all at once and they have the oxy indicator; it's pink and turns blue if oxygen gets to them. They do cost a bit more (I got 60 for the price I was paying for 100) BUT they work...... instead of having to put 3, 4; heck I even tried 5 with limited results.... I put 2 in with rice and corn meal in 1 gallon bags and all the air was pulled out leaving a vacuum sealed like package. I put 1 in with the powdered milk (it doesn't even really need any IMO) and it pulled most of the air out. I am sold and will be buying more after these are used up.

I used them for 2 liter bottles filled with rice and/or beans. Anyway, you can tell they work because the bottle creates a kind of vacuum, visible through its slightly distorted shape. All the proof I need. Once you open a package, I recommend putting the rest of the packets in a zip lock back and sucking out all air.

I have no real complaints about this other than you can't reseal the bag these come in. Thankfully they put 20 in each bag so less is wasted but for small jobs, you better have a vacuum sealer handy to save the unused ones quickly.
