No.. don’t waste your money.. ROKU outside US is GRP locked.. only Netflix and YouTube works in UAE along with thousands of useless channels.. Amazon doesn’t work in UAE…ROKU and their customer service is useless… will never ever buy any product from ROKU.. Period.. You are better off buying APPLE TV or MI box if your budget is tight .. you pay for quality 😀 Hope this will help all the people who wants to buy ROKU for use in UAE..

Has optical out / spdif ?

Optical is only for sound. The HDMI is video and sound. That's all you need. If your TV doesn't have those ports, it's too old to be buying this for. Yes, there are adapters that you can buy but to be honest, by the time you buy and get all that set up, it will probably be off and you could have just purchased a new TV for only a few bucks more.
