Sharp as! A pro lens! If you’re deliberating don’t, I was between this and the Nikkor 14-24, now I’m happy. Don’t be put off by the manual aspect, focus is very deep, especially at anything above f8 everything is sharp and the lens will push you to experiment more with your favourite camera’s manual mode.

Handhabung1. Das Objektiv hat keinen Autofokus (ok, das sollte klar sein).2. Ich wollte schon schimpfen "nicht einmal eine Markierung, um das Objektiv am Bajonett azusetzen". Aber doch, ein kleiner roter Punkt in einer Vertiefung am Bajonett - schlecht zu erkennen. Keine Markierung seitlich am Tubus.3. Das Metallbajonett hat keine Kontakte, also keine Kommunikation mit der Kamera. Das kann z.B. Samyang besser!4. An der Nikon D750 geht man ins Systemmenü, Menüpunkt Objektivdaten und gibt 13mm Brennweite (12 mm bietet Nikon nicht an) und Blende F2.8 ein. Nun zeigt das Schulterdisplay einen Blendenwert an, dieser korrespondiert mit dem Blendenring des Objektives.5. Der Blendenring rastet sauber ein, leider bietet er nur volle Blendenstufen, also 2.8 - 4.0 - 5.6 - 8 - 11 - 16 - 22.6. Der Fokusindikator im Sucher der D750 funktioniert. Zwar zeigt er nicht trennscharf an, aber das dürfte der kleinen Brennweite und dem großen Schärfentiefenbereich geschuldet sein.Man sollte dabei nicht vergessen, dass bei 12mm und F2.8 am Kleinbildformat die hyperfokale Distanz lediglich 1,78 m beträgt. Stellt man den Entfernungsring in die Mitte zwischen der 1,5m und der 3m-Markierung, dann sollte alles von 1 m bis unendlich scharf sein.7. Mit Front- und Rückdeckel wiegt das Objektiv 643g, also mehr als der Hersteller angibt.Bildqualität8. Schärfe in der Mitte bei F2.8 sehr gut und hoher Kontrast. Mittig unten und oben auch gut. Mittig links und rechts lässt es nach und in den Ecken nochmals schwächer. (Für einen Vergleich muss man die Ausschnitte von den Kanten/Ecken mind. 1 Blende hochziehen.)9. Abgeblendet auf F5.6 ist die Schärfe auch in den Ecken sehr gut.10. Die Vignetierung ist bei F2.8 kann man nur als grausam bezeichnen. Mit denAugen deutlich erkennbar, dürften so 1,5 Blenden sein. Auch hier gilt: ab F5.6 ist die Vignetierung unauffällig.Fazit:1000 € für ein manuelles Objektiv, dass man auf F5.6 abblenden muss, damit die Schärfe durchgängig gut und die Vignetierung vernachlässigbar ist? Laowa lässt sich sein "world’s widest lens with close-to-zero distortion" fürstlich bezahlen. Meines Erachtens zu teuer!

Diese Linse ist ein echter Bringer......wenn man lernt, sie zu bedienen.Getestet und gekauft wurde sie für eine Nikon D810.Die Linse an sich ist für ein 12mm Objektiv sehr klein und handlich.Einen Autofokus muss msn bei dieser Brennweite nicht haben.Die nicht vorhandene Verzeichnung mit diesem Blickwinkel......einfach geil.Die Bildschärfe bei 36MPix ist sehr gut, wenn auch nicht überragend.Photoshop CC hat das Objektiv auch in der Korrektur integriert.Die Linse bietet nur bei Blende f8.0 wirklich tolle Ergebnisse. F2.8 hätte sich der Konstrukteur sparen können. Mit dieser Linse arbeitet man hyperfokal mit der maximalen Schärfentiefe.Ja, die Sonnenblende arretiert nicht vernünftig.....da hilft ein Klecks Silikon.Leider hat die Linse einen Konstruktionsfehler.Wenn man durch die maximal geöffnete Blende scharf stellt, verschiebt sich der Schärfepunkt beim Abblenden und man bekommt unscharfe Bilder.Dieses Phänomen nennt sich unkorrigierte sphärische Abberation. Im Web ist das genauer erklärt....Daher ist es sehr wichtig, mir dieser Linse zu üben und kennenlernen wo man wann den Fokus setzt.Am besten ist die Linse meiner Meinung nach für enge Räume geeignet, wobei auch Draußen wunderbare Bilder gelingen.......wenn man lernt damit umzugehen.Die Farbwiedergabe ist sehr gut und da gibt es nichts zu meckern.FazitDie Linse bleibt, da sie schön klein und leicht ist, fast keine Verzeichnung hat und einen genialen Blickwinkel hat.1000€ für diesen exklusiven Blickwinkel ohne Verzeichnung finde ich gerade noch so akzeptabel.

This was a joy to open and set up. I have Nikon D810 and DF cameras. The quality of construction is excellent, thepictures are super crisp, but most of all the resultant pictures are incredible to view.Who new you could see so much in a picture. I thought my 17-35/2.8 was wide. Ha! and no distortionjust watch your lines.It is now a constant companion in my day bag.No trouble setting up "non-cpu' lens info. The beauty is set it to 5.6 and 8 feet and everything from 3 feet to Infinity is in focus.

So far for real estate photography, this lens really shines. All metal construction but light. Works great with my Z7.

My version couldn't focus to infinity properly across the entire field and given that it was primarily for astrophotography and photographing architecture it was a no go. In short not being able to get sharp details or pin-point stars was an issue even at such an angle. I feel if I can get a good copy then my review would be more on par with other reviews as I have salivated over this lens since the kickstarter and no doubt that this is a superb lens if you get a good copy. That said with just 30 day window for returns coupled with the high price I'm to nervous to just keep playing the return game especially given a review I read on Adorama where a guy had the exact same issue I had (i.e. if I keep getting bad copies that have this focus at infinity issue).I may try renting this lens again from Lens rentals where at least I know Roger Cicala will weed out a bad copy.I thought I was being picky but found a similar review on Adorama where the guy had gotten multiple bad copies. In any case the images I got were good but those that needed focus at infinity were not tack sharp (astro mainly) as others have seen. Will try again after I do more research or if Laowa could get me a copy they knew was tack sharp... In the end with a 30 day window I decided to do a return. I'll update my review if I can get a good copy.That said when I do I'll probably get it at Adorama or B&H as I feel more comfortable with their return policy on lenses as they better understand the issues with getting a "bad copy" This is especially true given my experience with a Sigma lens purchased at Adorama where they ended up testing it for me before sending it out :)
