The "T" designation refers to the pin type and spacing. The number refers to the thickness of the lamp. T12 is 12 eights of one inch or 1.5 inches in diameter. A T8 is 8 eights of one inch or one inch in diameter.

Q: How many lumens total are these?

Each bulb is 8 watts. The literature with the lamp indicates 110 lumens per watt. I think that this is high and usually led lumens per watt is in the range of 30 to 90. Giving the benefit of doubt, I would give it an 80 lumens per watt. That equals 640 lumens output per lamp and usually, they are in pairs so double that. The bulbs provide plenty of light for my stairs to the basement and provide more light than my old fluorescent bulbs.

A ballast bypass is where you bypass the ballast in the fluorescent light fixture and wire the bulbs directly into the 120 AC. Usually this done by cutting the wires leading to the ballast in the fixture and using wire nuts, connecting the wires directly into the light sockets.
