Is this kit for two people, and what if we want to include more hands?

It casts two adult hands held together as one sculpture in the bucket supplied, so agree your pose before you mix anything. For three or four hands, or for a baby's hand or foot, choose the family kit or the baby kit in the same Chuckle range.

What is in the box, and is there anything I need to supply myself?

Bucket, alginate (step 1), gypsum plaster (step 2), gold and silver paint, brushes, mixing stick, pick tool, display stand and instructions. You add cold water, scissors, a whisk or hand mixer, a spare bowl and a little skin-safe oil.

How does the casting work, and how long does each stage take?

Whisk the alginate into 2 litres of cold water for 60-90 seconds; cold water slows the set and keeps it lump-free. Put your hands in while it is still pink and hold 10-15 minutes. Pour the plaster, leave 4 hours, then dry 36-72 hours.

What is the kit made from, and what actually touches our hands?

Only the alginate touches your skin, and it washes straight off. The gypsum plaster is poured into the finished mould afterwards. Rub on a little skin-safe oil first and your hands slide out cleanly. Tested to EN71, CE and UKCA marked.

Is this a good romantic gift for a partner, and how is the sculpture finished?

It is mostly bought by couples, for anniversaries, weddings, engagements and birthdays, or simply as a present for a boyfriend or girlfriend. Once the cast is dry, tidy it with the pick tool, paint it gold or silver and set it on the stand.
