Moon Phase Astrology: The Lunar Key to Your Destiny

"Catchy" Archetypes and a Clever Perspective on the Moon
Kaldera does some fascinating, quirky astrology that is outside the community's mainstream. I met him at a workshop called Mystic Journeys in October, 2008, when he was in the process of writing this book. I gave him my birth chart data, and I have a feeling my chart was one of the ones he reviewed when he wrote the profile for the First Quarter Taurus Moon, the "Woodcutter's" Moon - his profile hit it right on the money with regard to me.In this book, he uses the 8 phases of the Moon highlighted by Dane Rudhyar, and assigns each phase to the 12 western sun signs, for a total of 96 different archetypes. What I find intriguing about this book is that he manages to do with moon phases what Vedic astrology has done with the nakshatras - delineate unique personality characteristics with no relation to western Sun-sign astrology. There is nothing Vedic about this book - its concepts are entirely western and mostly neo-pagan - but the way he deconstructs all the layers of meaning in the Moon is eye-opening. This book is a worthy successor to Rudhyar's classic, "The Lunation Cycle". If you want to begin to understand that book, you almost NEED to read this one.Once you check out your own Moon sign, the best way to really understand what Kaldera is offering is to understand each phase archetype in your sign. If you want to really understand the Taurus Moon, for example, the best way to do it is to follow the phases from beginning to end, and see how the Taurus manifestation shifts focus from "Crescent" to "Gibbous" to "Disseminating" to "Balsamic". The Taurus Moon is all about values, and property ownership, and stewardship, and creative expression, for example. Yet each of these qualities becomes the primary focus in some phases far more than in others. The biggest drawback of this book: the paragraph or two that he devotes to natal descriptions is very positive for some sign-phases, and quite negative for others. Kaldera goes with his gut, and doesn't sugar-coat his perceptions. This makes it a useful book for readers who want to understand the people in their lives, but less useful for an astrologer who is trying to counsel a client, or even for a reader who gets a miserable moon - how many readers with natal New Moon in Scorpio are going to be all that pleased with the "Raging" Moon description?Nonetheless, Kaldera is doing some very innovative astrology, and a reader without undue sensitivities will appreciate a whole new way to understand the western Moon and its secrets. The Vedic sages understood the complexity of the astrological Moon centuries ago, and with books like this, the west finally appears to be catching up.

A fun book to add to Astrology Collection
I love using Kaldera's interpretation of the various moon/sign cycles when I write my posts for new/full moons and eclipses. They always add interesting insight. I highly recommend this book to all astrology students and practitioners.

Cool
Bought this for psycology class. It does not have a lot of basis in scientific fact. However, if that does not matter to you, great book.

Best moon book ever!
My FAVORITE moon book. Amazing insight. With every explanation of a sign in a peticular moon phase are quotes relating to that energy! It is very beautifully written. I love Kaldera's quote" 'Tis an ill wind that bloweth no mind" I want to meet this guy/girl...soul being.

Moon Phase Astrology
I am building a library for myself and am collecting books for the library that I will have some day. This is one such book. I haven’t read it yet but I think it will be fascinating and am looking forward to reading it.

New way at looking at the phases of the moon
Magic 96. Never really thought of the 8 phases by sign, and while not each and every one applies to every person I've encountered, some are incredibly spot on. Overall. it's a good read and a very interesting take on the subject.

Fabulous book
Love, love, love this book. I have two of Ravens' books - this one & Pagan astrology. Brilliant addition to help the astrologer understand their client further. A book I didn't realise I couldn't do without.

Insightful accurate descriptions of the lunar phases in 96 different ways.
This is turning out to be my lunar phase bible!! It's also a great conversation starter. As an astrologist, I'm having fun adding this information as a perk into readings for the client's natal charts. Everyone has been fascinated to find out more about themselves. My Natal Virgo Moon loves this. This book is well written, and the author really knows his craft! And, ... everyone whom I've shown their moon phase to wants to buy it for themselves as well. As a result, several have! Thank you, Raven!

Three Stars
Wow this book is so difficult to read. The author is dripping with such distasteful negative pretentiousness
