Keeps out varmints and simple to install. Worth the price.
Excellent product. Simple to use and works to repel varmints. Instructions say to change the two AA batteries every 6 months. I have found that the batteries easily last much longer. I've also used the Rid-a-Rat that attaches to the vehicle's 12 volt battery. It's easy to attach and just keeps on working and working. The magnets are very strong. I've never had one come lose, no matter that long bumpy, wash board roads that I've traveled.

The product works.
Before I got this I had a bill of $950 from rats destroying the wires of my car. I was told about this product by someone who put one in a car. I put one in my car and have never had another problem! It works perfectly!

Far and away the best solution to pack rat problems
I wanted to wait for at least a year before writing a review, and now I can say that this product works better than anything else I have tried. I live in Arizona in a semi-rural area where pack rats are a common problem. I have tried mothballs and Irish Spring soap, but these lose their effectiveness as soon as they stop producing any odor. Opening the hood at night or placing lights under the vehicle can be effective but they are a hassle to do every night and forgetting it one night means pack rats get in again. This is the only product I have found that works continuously and requires no more effort after its initial installation. It took me a little longer to install because I removed the alligator clips and crimped on ring terminals for a more secure hold to the battery cables. However, it still only took about 15 minutes to install each one. The magnet holds securely to either the hood or firewall, and you just have to route the wires around and attach them to your battery. It is a good idea to follow the instructions and clean out your engine compartment if rodents have been in there. I used Simple Green, a soft bristle brush, and a garden hose, not a pressure washer, to thoroughly wash out my engine compartments. The best testament I can make for this product was when a dome light was accidentally left on in a vehicle parked outside. This completely ran down the battery and the Rid-a-Rat lost power. This was only time that pack rats have caused a problem since installation in any of my vehicles. As soon as the battery was charged up again and Rid-a-Rat started flashing again, the pack rats stayed away. While this "test" was unintentional, it left me with no doubts about how well Rid-a-Rat works.

Work great but you need a way to connect the small alligator clips to your battery
Works great and keeps the rats away (they chewed my wired, thus why I purchased). The only downside (otherwise would be 5 stars) is the small alligator clips that would be useless to you if you donโt have a small battery post to connect to. I do, but still added a zip tie to keep the clips secure, as even with the small post the clips as at their max.

It works so far
So far, so good. We have a 5th wheel parked on our wooded 43 acres and were having mice and wood rat problems. They were living in the belly of the trailer and chewing wires and the fresh water inlet hose. Between the led rope lights on the ground around the perimeter of the rv and this light in the belly compartment, I haven't seen any signs of critters for over a month. Hopefully, this will continue to keep them out of the belly compartment.

Working well so far!
Rat nesting on top of our car battery and peppermint oil spray would not keep the rats away. Really afraid of costly wiring damage from rats chewing wires. A friend told me about the Rid a rat product. She has used it in her engine compartment over a year and the rats have left her car alone. (Before she had $400 in engine wire repair .) My husband was able to install & attach the Rid a rat easily to our car battery. That was 2 months ago, and so far no rats building nests!! (Recommend the type that attaches directly to car battery, not the type that uses 2 double A batteries to work.)

Good product
We were having a problem with squirrels building nests inside the engine compartment of our vehicle. They ate through some wiring voting about $600 in damage. Two days after repairing the truck the squirrel had already built a new nest. I cleaned out the nest and applied a "peppermint" spray sold by Amazon. That worked for one day, then they returned again! We bought the Rid-a-Rat and haven't had any more problems. It was easy to install in just a couple minutes. Simple design that seems to work great so far. Very expensive for what you get but well worth the price.

Do not waste your money. These products DO NOT WORK.
WE LIVE IN THE FOOTHILLS IN SANTA FE COUNTY, NM. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT. WE PURCHASED FOUR AND SINCE THEY WERE INSTALLED EARLY MARCH 2021, WE'VE HAD $1,600 WORTH OF CHEWED WIRES IN ONE VEHICLE, $700 WORTH OF CHEWED WIRES IN A SECOND VEHICLE, AND AFTER GETTING THEM REPAIRED, MY HUSBAND BEGAN PLACING MOUSE TRAPS UNDER THE HOODS, IN ADDITION TO THIS PRODUCT. MY HUSBAND IS CURRENTLY DISPOSING AT LEAST TWO MICE PER DAY. IN ADDITION, THE FIRST VEHICLE HAS RODENT FECES AND URINE BACK UNDER THE HOOD. WASTE OF MONEY AND TOTALLY FALSE ADVERTISING. I MISSED THE AMAZON WINDOW TO RETURN SO I'LL HAVE TO CONTACT THE COMPANY FOR A FULL REFUND. I SHOULD SEND THEM THE BILL FOR BOTH VEHICLE'S DAMAGE!!! HOPE THIS REVIEW HELPS OTHER POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS.
