Supports 1920x1080 resolution at 144hz
I received my CableCreation HDMI to DisplayPort adapter today and was able to connect it to the HDMI port on my VAVA USB C Hub that was connected to my HP Envy x360 15inch (which only had 1 USB C thunderbolt port). From there, I was able to use a DisplayPort cable and connect the CableCreation adapter to the DisplayPort on my BenQ-XL2411 (24inch) monitor and achieve 144hz (143.something hz was the exact number according to my Windows display settings). As a result, I am able to achieve 144hz on 1920x1080 resolution (the recommended resolution on my Windows laptop) and 1280x960 stretched (the resolution I use when I play CSGO) on my BenQ monitor via the DisplayPort connection. Ultimately, I did return this as I had bought a new USB C Hub (Tiergrade 12 in 1 USB C Hub) that already had a DisplayPort which similarly supported the 144hz I desired on my BenQ monitor. That said, it worked well, and I hope this helps.

Works As Advertised. Very Well Built
I, like many others, have gone through the trials and tribulations of trying different HDMI to display port adapters. I usually research purchases but wrongly assumed that just any adapter would work. When I finally took the time to see what is required for such a cable, this was a simple purchase. This cable does exactly what I want it to do. And that is, go from my raspberry pi to a dell display port monitor. This worked first try and has been ever since. The quality is excellent, so much so that I transfer it home from work now in my edc bag and have no questions about its durability. In closing, I can't find anything wrong with this product (unless you want to get picky and wish that it was a little less expensive) so this is an excellent purchase in my opinion.

Lasted 5+ months but vendor replaced under warranty.
I bought this to convert my laptop's displayport output to a HDMI input. This was the only one I found on Amazon but I didn't do an extensive search. Everything else converts the other way around. This worked great and the video quality was excellent. It lasted a little over 5 months when the display started to blank out. After some fiddling, I realized that the wire's connection point to the displayport plug was the culprit. If I held the wire in a certain position with my hand, the display worked. Obviously, there was a bad connection there. Good vendor. Looking back on the order, there was a 2 yr warranty. Contacted them via Amazon and after some explanation and pictures, they sent me a new one! Customer service was quick and they stood behind their product. While I have no way to know if I got a bad sample or if this was a poor quality product, Cable Creations took care of it.

Have a computer with HDMI out & want to use that HDMI output with a DisplayPort monitor? This Works.
If you have a computer with an HDMI out and want to use that HDMI output with a DisplayPort monitor, this product works. I replaced an older work computer that had to DP ports with a new Dell that had one DP port and one HDMI port. If you are reading this, you probably know that regular cables that work from DP on your computer to HDMI Monitors do not work the other way around. If you have a pc that has an HDMI output, you must use a powered converting device to make the computer's HDMI output compatible with a DP monitor input. Startech offers the gold standard, but it costs around $130 as of September 2025. The Startech may be better if you have a high-speed gaming rig or something similar, but it was way overkill for me. I needed something to use for office applications so that I could use my existing monitor setup. I am running a 24" monitor at 1920x1080 @ 60Hz with no issues. This is as slow as Christmas by gamer standards, but it's plenty good for email and spreadsheets.

Worked for awhile and then died
This product worked great for about 3-4 months. I noticed a bit of screen flickering one day when I plugged the HDMI into my laptop and after I tried removing and reinserting the connector, the screen went black. I tried the same steps a few more times and couldn't get the monitor to turn back on. I tried a standard HDMI-HDMI input, and I also tried another product exactly like this one and both worked just fine, so it has to be this cable. Then, to make matters worse, this died the week I submitted a service request and I'm sure with the holidays, my request wasn't answered in time for it to expire. I'm very disappointed, the product exceeded my expectations at first.

Needed for older monitor
Work supplied an external monitor for home use but it only had a displayport for high resolution use. The work PC only output HDMI. This cable was necessary to make that combination work.

Works great, even on 21:9 aspect ratio!
I bought this because I have three monitors with DisplayPort but only two DisplayPort ports on my PC. I use this on a 21:9 monitor without HDMI 2.0 running at 1080p. Not only does this adapter function (albeit a bit limited when you push it hard) without plugging in USB, but it can push 159 and 161 Hz. For some reason, 160 is a problem for it, but I haven’t found another refresh rate that causes issues. An unexpected benefit of this device is that I can get complete use of the 21:9 aspect ratio on my monitor over HDMI. The monitor doesn’t have any HDMI 2.0 ports built in, so I couldn’t use any HDMI devices with it (well, it stretched a 1920x1080 image to 2560x1080) before. So it can successfully convert from DisplayPort 1.2 to a fully featured HDMI 2.0 port. Great purchase and excellent bang-for-the-buck.

Needed something to convert HDMI output to DP input. Having used CableCreation products previously, I decided to give this adapter a try. Worked like a charm upon first installation. Build quality is great, and the length of the USB cable to power the adapter is adequate enough (at least for me). And yes, you do need to plug in the USB cable - otherwise, the adapter will not work. I plugged mine into an available USB port on my computer, but I'm sure you could also plug into any USB charger. No issues with image quality, no flickers, no blank screens. It works as described.

It does not work with my Switch. When I connected the switch to my monitor mainly, the screen cycles between signal and no signal, and it is impossible to play with intermittent images.
