I haven't done one of these before and thought I would try it. At first it looks like a daunting task, specially when you see all the pieces. I admit it was fun putting it together, but here are some things to keep in mind. The instructions rely heavily on you paying close attention to the details as one piece can easily be installed backwards if you don't look careful. Cutting the pieces out from the stencil requires some care. I strongly suggest you cut out a few of the larger pieces to get some practice. The hardest part for me was snapping the pieces out careful enough so you don't break them. Make sure you take you take your time taking them out as they get damaged very easily. The pieces don't really snap into place, you have to push them into place and judge that they've gone far enough. You'll need sand paper for sure, I bought some extra, which I used to lightly sand some of the edges off from the connecting pieces. I found sometimes some of the pieces didn't want to "snap" in so a little sanding let the pieces slide in nicely. Just be careful as you can end up with a piece that's too loose. Finally... keep in mind that this is a patience game. You must have patience or you'll get frustrated and could easily break a piece. Overall, the whole process was fun, a little stressful sometimes, but definitely satisfying when it was all complete and worked!. I will buy another one... but I might just have to wait a bit before I decide to commit myself to going thru that process again. I have large hands and can be a bit challenging working with small pieces. As you can see from the pictures, the Quality of the product is GREAT! ... it's important to have good quality on these types of puzzles, or they just won't work well when you put them together.

I read up on the top reviews on this before purchasing and have no idea where they are coming from. The instructions are extremely easy to follow and not sure how much clearer they could be. They even include scannable links to see how moving parts should work. If you have any experience with lego you will find this better than those instructions. As for the time spent i would say all in i was around 3.5 to 4 hours. REALLY cool craft/puzzle, enjoyed every minute and now the kids love watching it go.

Love doing regular puzzles, but decided to try something 3D this time. It was great fun! The material quality was top notch, the engineering was incredible, and the instructions were some of the best I've seen. If there's any ambiguity, I always put things together wrong way first before getting it right. I had no do overs with this. After a little fine tuning, it worked perfectly! A lot of the connections require a great bit of force. Using the provided sandpaper to knock down the edges on the male connectors is advisable to get a good start before the major pressure begins. Good luck!

I built this with my 2 sons, ages 10 and 12. We built it in about 2 days and it definitely requires some patience and gentleness as the pieces can be easy to break or damage if you're not careful. Definitely use the sanding tools to smooth out rough edges and lubricate where indicated.
