In a word: Amazing! Read on for more detail . . .
First, let me give you the one word review: Amazing! Now for the longer version . . . I read a ton of reviews and visited a local home electronics store, but I never actually heard the Definitive Technology speakers until I heard them installed in my house. I saw that the number of Definitive Technology speaker reviews was low, but that the reviews were universally excellent. There seemed to be 2 kinds of speaker reviewers out there: first, there is the audiophile type reviewer that can't wait to tell you all about their brand of receiver, room size, flux capacitors, highs-lows, best DVD for viewing, etc., second, the broken English reviews by people who just wanted to throw something quickly out on the Internet, usually something like "the speekers rok!!! The sownds gooder than my uld speekers that wer crppy." So . . . I hope to deliver a meaningful high-level review that provides the information you need to make YOUR decision.I purchased an entire set of Definitive Technology speakers, (3) RCS-III for right, center, left, (2) RSS-III for side surrounds, and (1) Supercube-II for the subwoofer. I also purchased a new model of receiver from Onkyo, the NR-808. I was nervous about (2) things when it came to in-ceiling speakers. I was nervous about the sound quality and I was nervous about the installation. The sound quality is truly worth the money and you can't tell for a second that you have ceiling speakers. I can tell you that the installation did take some planning and effort because I put all (5) speakers into the ceiling of a finished basement where I didn't have unfettered access to the crawlspace. But, with a little fishtape (a rigid metal tape that you use to "fish" cables under carpet or through crawlspaces - about $25 at your local home improvement store) and a little luck I was set. I seriously considered the RCS-II and RSS-II speakers with the Supercube I, but I can tell you that for my size of room (medium-large size family room with 8 foot ceilings) that the III series and Supercube II is definitely MORE than enough.Everything from the quality of the packaging and the installation guides is Top Quality stuff, you can tell that Definitive Technology takes their craft very seriously. Amazon did a great job delivering, too.If you are reading the reviews for the Definitive Technology speakers (and you would be if you are reading this) then you can afford to spend some dough on speakers. You will be glad you did.By the way, the highway scene from the Matrix Reloaded is pretty amazing and gives the system a chance to really stretch out.

This is a 5 star speaker with awesome sound but there are a few installation related issues that knocked it down to a 4 star overall. I mounted these in the ceiling. I wish they had rough-in templates more readily available, the lock arms are mostly unusable. The screen is easily removable and paintable, but the trim piece around the screen had to be painted while still attached which is less than ideal.

Constantly amazed by the sound these speakers make.
I bought these after a pretty long search for ceiling mounted speakers that would direct their sound towards an area not directly underneath them. We added a family room, and the back wall to the entertainment system didn't really exist (an open space behind). The back boundary had a wall of sorts from 8'-12' up for the high ceiling, but I didn't want to mount anything either on the ceiling or on this vertical surface. These speakers solved this issue admirably. I was able to add them as back surrounds in a 7.1 set-up (soon to be Dolby Atmos set-up) with wiring that had already been run during construction. The angle of the higher-frequency drivers was perfect at aiming at the seating area.Installation was wasn't particularly challenging except for one issue - the provided screws. I made sure the speaker boxes were flush against two rafters. Even with drilling pilot holes, the provided screws are cheap and snapped readily. They are utterly useless if mounting against an LVL (even with a substantial pilot hole), but even snapped in pine. I used hardened screws, instead.Getting past the screw issues, the speakers remained flush with the ceiling and are about as unobtrusive and a square foot box could be. I'm very satisfied with the results. The sound is awesome on their own, particularly amazing as rear surrounds. After six years, the boxes don't buzz or vibrate from their mounting. As streaming content (movies, shows, etc.) gets increasingly good with Dolby Atmos multi-channel, the rear speakers in my set-up become an even more integral part of my entertainment system. I'm constantly amazed at their contribution to the whole.I highly recommend them in any application where space, SAF (spouse acceptance factor), and quality are a concern.

Amazing surrounds.
The sound is amazing and placement is flexible. Reduced rating only because supplied screws are cheap and broke on me. Installation also has some hidden costs since some ceilings are not ideal since these speakers must be screwed into wood studs. Still, awesome speakers if you have the skills to deal with installation headaches. Or if you the money to pay a pro.

the very best in ceiling speaker
i have a def tech complete system-bp7001cs,supercube reference sub woofer,3ooo center channel, and in ceiling speakers.the only thing idon`t regret is paying for this in wall rcs III.if you gus planning to pu up a home theater system,do not spend your money for bp7001 sc`s,and 3000 clr.thist in wall rcs III along with the super cube reference sub woofer is more than enough for music and 7.1 channel.bp7001cs,clr center chnnel system sucks !!!!!! sucks!!!!.the built in sub woofer useless, weak.brand new from the box,bp70001 sc sub rattle and failed.i am so frustrated that it takes 2 months to repair and failed again.so built in sub-woofers in def tech is worst design failure.keep in mind def tech technical support advise and procedure followed.def tech class d built in amps over rated.pls. you guys out there do not make the same mistake i did. !!!!!
