This purifier is amazing! Allergies, be gone!
This is now our 2nd Blue air purifier. I originally bought the smaller Blue 411+ for our bedroom and I was very impressed with how having that in our bedroom improved my lifelong allergies that I take a daily pill for. Prior to getting the smaller 411+ I would very often wake up with a stuffed nose. Yes, we do have 2 dogs but they are not allowed in the bedroom due to my allergies. I honestly didn't have high hopes for the smaller unit but after a couple days of it purifying the bedroom air, I noticed a huge difference. I began waking up with clear sinuses and the room smelled "different". Not a bad smell but maybe just NO smell? Anyhow, after giving the little Blue a good 30 days to prove itself, I knew I needed a larger one for our living room. This is also where our dogs (golden retriever and black lab) spend most of their time with us when they are inside. And having these 2 dogs and allergies doesn't make life super easy as cleaning goes. I have to vacuum daily or every other day (minimum) and will at times pull up what looks like a small dog inside my vacuum canister. Especially, when my golden is blowing her coat. Finally after comparing, I went ahead and ordered the Blue 311 Auto for our living room which is approximately 420sf. I also bought a separate filter cover that's shown in my pictures and an additional filter to have on hand. The unit arrived well packaged and without damage. It came with a main filter installed and a a light gray filter cover but tbh, I will use the light gray cover while cleaning and drying the dark gray cover I have on it now. I as I prefer the dark (name is actually Winter Reed) over the lighter gray. I also like the quality of the upgraded cover. It's a bit thicker and looks nice. The set up was simple. It's really just plug it in and go. I like that this unit has 4 mode settings and indicator lights to show air quality and when the filter needs replaced. I have noticed one time when out of nowhere the air quality sensor light briefly turned from blue to orange then back to blue. The light sensor color indicators and level info are Blue (good), Orange (moderate), and Red (polluted). The main filter change sensor is supposed to switch on after 6 months of use but I haven't had it long enough to confirm if that works yet. For maintenance, I do run my vacuum brush over the outer filter cover once a week to clean any dust off of it which, there always is. This was also an immediate indicator to me that this fella is doing its job! I will also run a damp cloth on the the plastic exterior at the same time just to keep it clean and in the best working condition. Noise Level: This 311 Auto unit has 4 modes. ✔Auto Mode: (fan speed will change depending on the air quality it senses). ✔Night Mode: (whisper quiet, low speed) ✔Everyday Mode: (medium speed) ✔Boost Mode: (fastest speed and very loud). Boost mode is like, wind tunnel loud! Way too loud for us to watch TV in the same room if it was on. But this mode is not for everyday use. The only time I've used boost mode is when there is a specific reason i.e.,dogs came in from rain or I may have cooked/baked something that has a lingering smell, etc. I would just turn it on boost for 10 minutes or so to dissipate whatever the odor issue may be. We typically have it set on auto mode or everyday mode and it's very, very quiet. I would say auto mode is more quiet or no louder than an average fan that's on it's lowest speed and everyday mode is maybe as loud as a fan on medium setting. ▪️Please see video I took of the different modes to show the sound difference between all four settings▪️ I have now had this particular unit running 24/7 for about 2 months and we love it! We live in Washington State so when it rains and our fur babies go out for break, any "wet dog" smell is gone in minutes if I kick in the boost mode but everyday mode will also take care of that within an hour or so. Sadly, I also know fire season will soon be upon us for summer and I have no doubt both units will do a fantastic job at keeping the quality of air inside our home filtered, clean and smelling fresh during the seasonal bad air quality. We will be tackling a full home remodel next year which we'll be adding central heating and air but even then, I plan on keeping both these units up and running! Would I recommend this Blueair 311 Auto? Absolutely 100%. Summary: All in all, if you suffer from allergies/asthma like me, have animals, or simply a home without filtered air and are teetering on whether or not to purchase, go for it! You won't regret it! Personally, these air purifiers have honestly changed my life! I wish I would've found this company sooner! I HIGHLY recommend! If I must find something negative, I guess I would have to say their OEM filter replacements are pricey but this was not a deterrent for me. They also offer an auto ship filter service for a discount. I give this an easy 5 star! (I was NOT paid for this review and was not asked to leave one. I have no affiliation with this company other than being a new-ish forever customer)! Hopefully this will help someone!

Form and function!
This is the second BlueAir air purifier I've purchased, and I absolutely love them. I use this one in my living/dining room, and I have it normally set on auto. It is whisper quiet when the air is clean, and still fairly quiet on the next level, only getting loud but still not unbearable on the highest setting when it is cleaning the air. I have a small kitchen so anytime we cook anything the smell inevitably fills the dining and living room. This air purifier then immediately kicks into high gear and within an hour cleans the air. Very efficient in that regard. It also does an excellent job of reducing dust, as much less dust accumulates on my furniture now. While I can say for a fact if that will help with allergy relief since fortunately I don't suffer from it, I assume less dust helps. While the air purifier is very light weight, it still feels very durable. It also looks great anywhere in the room, seamlessly blending into surrounding furniture unlike other air purifiers, and isn't too big or too small so can really fit anywhere. I'll definitely be purchasing more purifiers from this company for other rooms.

Quiet and Efficient
This air purifier is quiet and efficient. It runs throughout the day mostly silent, cleans our air well, and has a beautiful design. I am impressed by how quiet this air purifier is! I've had many air purifiers over the years and most of them were loud, either with fans or electrical humming. The blueair purifier runs all day completely silent. This is one of the top reasons I wanted it. The only time it becomes louder is if it detects more pollutants in the air, which kicks the fan up higher. Even at it's highest setting it's not loud. I would say it's less quiet than a box fan. I LOVE how quiet it is. I have sensitive lungs and I suffer when the air isn't clean. The pollen in the air has been brutal, so I wanted an air purifier that could work in addition to the other ones in our home. We have a little town home and I use this one in our living room. I have placed it at the corner of the living room by the dining room and kitchen. I accidentally burnt a meal while cooking and the air purifier automatically kicked up to the highest level until the air was clean. That alone is impressive. Recently, all of our windows were open and the air purifier fan kicked up to it's medium level fan, then it's high level. My kids and I were wondering if the fan had malfunctioned, none of us had done anything to cause it to react. I went to the window and realized that it was hazy and smoky outside. We immediately shut all of the windows. The air purifier stayed on until the air in our house was clean again. Then it went back into low-level, silent mode. I absolutely LOVE the auto-detect feature. It's small enough to be out of the way, but big enough to do it's job. I love the beautiful design. It's about the height of a box fan. I love that it's round and tall. We have the original prefilter that it came with but I'd like to purchase more. I'm excited to try out another color, but I also really love the grey. The only downside is the prefilter. As much as I love it, our cat loves it more. She loves to launch herself full speed across the room and do a running leap at the air filer, grab at it with her claws and fling herself around it like it's a toy just for her. She ferociously rips and pulls at it like it's a beautiful scratching post. We've tried putting new scratching pads and all around it to deter her, but she loves the blueair more. I have removed the prefilter in hopes of detering her, so that she'll leave it alone. She has lost all interest in it with the prefilter removed. I'm bummed because I love the look of it WITH the filter on. It is so hard to take the filter off and put it back on. I kind of wish it was able to simply velcro on instead of having to slide it on. It reminds me of trying on prepregnancy pants after I had my kids. So difficult to shimmy into! Despite this one problem, I love this air purifier and will definitely be purchasing another in the future for our downstairs bedroom!

Nice looking unit, quiet, love the auto mode - got rid of wildfire smoke from our house
I'm in California and this past summer was bad in terms of wildfires and it's impact on our air quality. It's the first time where the smoke affected us INSIDE our house. It was so bad where we were that it was a thick fog of smoke at ground level for a week. We're working from home with kids and a dog. And there were days when we could see the smoke inside the house, meaning we could see haze inside. My wife was coughing and sneezing. I ended up buying two of these units, one for each floor of our house during the day and used one in our bedroom during the night. The auto mode feature is pretty cool and the sensor is pretty sensitive. Basically, it autodetects the air quality and adjust the fan speed accordingly. It not only detected smoke but it detected odors like fried fish that we made one night, which is pretty cool So it's good to remove cooking odors as well. I did test it out on a smoky day and it did detect poor air quality and upped the fan. Within 30 minutes it cleared out the air. Yes, these purifiers DO make a notable difference. They are not a gimmick. On the lowest fan setting they are VERY quiet and pretty unnoticeable. We had one in our bedroom on auto mode and it was whisper quiet!!! On the higher speeds the noise is more noticeable but not that bad. It definitely can move alot of air and I trust the sq. ft. rating. It can probably handle larger to be honest. Lastly, I like the nice touch sensitive touch pad with indicator lights to adjust fan speed and turn the unit on. It's pretty cool and futuristic. The CON... as with many reviewers, I can confirm there is a weird chemical like odor from the purifier itself. I think it's from the filter. After awhile you don't notice it but it is there. It's not super strong but noticeable. It's also pretty expensive. I'm sure there are other cheaper and maybe better options. I bought these in a rush as availability of other purifiers at the time was very little. We are happy with them overall and will likely continue to use them. They are a nice small form factor and fit well with our decor.

Nice size and function. Seems to draw in a little draft but that makes the air more fresh. Im not sure how much I would use this on a really cold day but I didnt buy a heater. The air is instantly and maintained fresher. I am also inspired to clean more as to save money on replacement filters haha so that is a plus+

Very quiet, excellent service
I have purchased two of these units now. The first one was for the living room. Most of the time it's super quiet, enough that I forget it's there. It's only when there is some cooking going on that the fan kicks into higher speed and I hear the device working. I was happy enough that I then decided to buy a second unit for the bedroom. The second unit apparently had some problem with the motor because I could hear a high-pitched whirring noise especially at the lowest fan speed. It wasn't loud, but enough to be annoying when trying to sleep. It probably would have been fine if I just swapped it with the one in the living room, but I contacted BlueAir support to see if there was anything they could do about it. Happily, without any fuss they offered to ship me a replacement unit, which arrived about a week later. The replacement unit is very quiet, just like my first unit.

Misleading. Worse than non-auto. HEPASilent isn't HEPA.
Was happy with the older 211, which worked reasonably well. On low the filter moves almost no air - the setting is effectively useless. Auto uses a speed that seems to be even lower most of the time making it useless. Medium is low but less quiet than the lowest useful setting on the 211. High works well and is not quiet. The pre-filter is a coarse cloth wrapped around the unit and isn't as effective as most other pre-filters. The carbon depletes before the rest of the filter but cannot be changed independently. Having looked more carefully at the fine print this product is misleading. First of all it isn't HEPA. It makes a lot of 99.97% claims on the page with an * next to them. Searching for the * yields: *Tested on E.coli, Influenza A (H1N1), A.niger with minimum reduction of 99.9% in 60min I don't know how 99.9 is being used to claim 99.97. But they do say: "Are Blueair filters HEPA? No, Blueair filters are less dense than traditional HEPA filters, allowing our air purifiers to be quieter and more energy-efficient. Instead of HEPA filters, we use a combination of electrostatic and mechanical filtration that we call HEPASilent™ technology to achieve the same level of filtration efficiency - with less energy and noise." While never unambiguously claiming to meet much less to have been independently tested to a HEPA 99.97% filtration. Given the construction of the filter (no sealing between the paper filter and the plastic frame) there will be some air bypass thus making these claims suspect. I am sorry I bought a few of these and am in the process of replacing them with real HEPA filters.

very happy with this selection, performs well
Have a small 45 year old 1200 ft cabin in the woods and shopped for air purifier that would work with seasonal pollen, cat hair/dander from two cats( and litter pan odor), woodstove smoke/ash, occasional kitchen cooking pollution. Lots of claims out there in wide range of prices...this one,far from cheapest, or priciest, seemed to offer quality needed to address enviromental indoor air polution. Liked 2 phased filtration, charcoal for odors, and that filters lasted 6 mo rather than 1. Located in sleeping area, quiet operation a plus. Have had unit for 6 months now, and just replaced filter, which was autoshipped from mfg,as i did not trust the cheaper knockoffs that would fit,but questioned getting same results. Set filter replacement auto ship, was favorably impressed to speak with rep in understandable english without waiting on perpetual hold, and registered warranty at that time. First time i fried bacon, smoke carried into living area and demonstrated the sensor/detector in action, works as advertised. This unit has meaningfully enhanced indoor air quality in times of ever increasing pollution, providing better quality of life/living... highly recommend.
