My dad was excited to get this for Christmas because he had carpal tunnel surgery but still wanted to help my cousin with the electrical in his new house. The ratchet enabled him to cut what he needed to without hurting his hands. But as far as durability and what not I’m not sure. I wasn’t the user.

I first bought the $27 variety. They nicked on first cut of copper/aluminum telephone cable. I then bought these, tested them on the same wire. No nicked blades here.

These cutters looked great & were very decently priced. Over the course of 2 months I used them around a dozen times. First the axle pin for the ratcheting arm fell out. Not completely out but far enough the tool wouldn't ratchet half way through the cut. Had to finagle them loose off the cable. This caused me to have to keep an eye on the pin not falling out. Just used them in 25 Degree weather on a piece of #2 Aluminium Cable and the ratcheting arm broke in half on the first use. Again, I only used these cutters about 12 times in total. Now they're garbage and not usable. I can't even find a solid number or e-mail contact to call about replacement. Don't waste your MONEY!

I cut 750 mcm with these bad boys and it cut them.

i’m an industrial electrician, and these cut through 4c 4/0 with a bit of effort, but not undoable. i do a lot of high voltage terminations and these come in handy in the rack when i don’t want to climb with my band saw
