Fantastic tool 2006 Silverado 5.3
I used this on my 2009 Silverado 5.3 Amazon vehicle application stated it wouldn’t work with my truck but it worked flawless! I removed rockers and rocker base and it bolted in place with no problem, used grease on all bolts and nuts. Only used hand tools no power tools. I had absolutely no issues with the threads pulling or stripping, it is strong and after all 16 valve seals were replace it was in as good off condition as it was when it arrived. This tool was so simple. The instructions were vague the picture showed a spacer on top the instructions stated it goes underneath it does in fact go underneath as it gives the tool clearance to extend over the valve cover mounting bolt holes. I read the reviews before purchasing and my expectations were low and I had a backup plan in case it didn’t work. I honestly don’t understand why there were bad reviews unless they were from an earlier version, I bought mine in June 2024 and didn’t use it till March 2025. Keep the stud lubed well with grease along with the nut and washer and be sure that you tighten the stud into the tools frame, which is supposed to be on an angle by the way, which was perfect and it works flawless. The tool is Marked top, and that was the top on my Vehicle.

Good value
Instructions appeared to be wrong but simple enough to figure out. Worked well!

Works great, just cheap and will be good for maybe 2 spring jobs tops.
Could be a 5 star tool of the R&D department would have added a bearing for under the clamp bolt. Used lots of lube/grease and it made it through the valve swap but would assume one more set of heads and it will be toast. The threads are getting chewed up on the clamp bolt and the nut is digging into the clamp plate. Not bad for the price just don't expect to use it for more than a job or two if you really clean and lube it after every spring.

Nice tool but be careful
This tool works excellent, but be careful ! It’s a China made tool so don’t tap on it or abuse it , cuz you’ll booger it up easily. I hate those clamp style spring compressors , so I wanted to give this option a try. It worked great on my LS heads. Just take your time and make sure you set it up correctly before you go cranking on the lead screw.

Well worth the money
Spring compressor worked great. So far, removed all 16 valve springs and didn't strip a single bolt out. For the price, it's a great product that works!

Works great
I was a little skeptical this thing would hold up to my new .660 dual valve springs but it worked great. Made it quick for me to swap my valve springs over on my LSA heads. (The extra gussets do not get in the way with aluminum spacer they include). The new valve springs did not bend the spring bar. Came with extra replacement hardware. Definitely isn’t a use once and throw away tool like I thought it would’ve been. Solid purchase.

Didn't work on my 2006 Corvette 6.0
I have 44 years in the tool room and i see more and more of poorly made tools. Like most tools make in China, they are almost tools. The real toolmakers are in Poland. 1. They chamfered the M8 X 1.25 after drilling and tapping, no, you always chamfer the drilled hole before tapping or a tap will be needed to clean up the first thread which the after the fact chamfer rolled over, which I did. 2. No certification for the fasteners. You are working with stored energy under pressure, this can be fatal. What China does is they will sell you a stick of steel 2/3 good, 1/3 junk, the junk steel is potentially fatal. 3. The first time i used it, the treads stretched on the M8 X 1.25. 4. The M8 X1.25 is too long. 5. First time I used it, the "H" bottomed out before compression the spring enough to remove the keepers. 6. The piece that has written "TOP" on it is to high, to far toward the middle of the engine, milling out an additional .400 remedied the problem. An almost tool to be sure. 7. Made a new "H" piece to allow the correct distance to compress the valves. 8. The M8 X 1.25 moves when compressing the valves springs. A typical China engineering flaw. The stud should have left handed treads in the "TOP" piece to fix the problem. 9. The M8 X1.25 should be an acme tread for wear and safety. 10. Other than the above, it worked just fine.
