Tastes like burnt dog doo, works great!
Smells like terrible cheese and a toot, and has a strong after taste of bitter burnt coffee grounds, but mixed with Sunny D it’s really not bad. Seems to work well for being the most important of the BCAA stack. I’ll order again for sure.

Brutal Taste, Beautiful Gains – Worth Every Grimace
TL;DR: Tastes like burnt coffee beans and regret, but if you want real muscle retention and recovery, this stuff works. I mix it post-workout with creatine and 16 oz of water. It’s pure, effective, and worth the grimace. Suck it up, buttercup. Let’s get one thing straight: this stuff tastes like burnt coffee beans had a bitter divorce with a charred tire—and somehow they both lost custody. If you’re expecting a tropical fruit flavor, walk away. But if you’re chasing real results and not some sugar-coated placebo, Nutricost’s L-Leucine delivers. I drink this post-workout, mixing one scoop with creatine and about 16 oz of water. Taste-wise? It’s rough. But it mixes well, no clumps, and hits your system like a freight train full of gains. Suck it up, buttercup—the results are worth the momentary mouth punishment. Now let’s talk results: faster recovery, better muscle retention (especially cutting), and noticeable post-lift performance improvements. Leucine is the MVP of BCAAs for muscle protein synthesis, and this pure, no-BS version nails it. Bonus: no fillers, no weird additives, just pure leucine doing exactly what you want it to do—helping you hang onto hard-earned muscle like it owes you money. Taste is a 2/10. Results? 10/10. You don’t buy this for a spa day—you buy it because it works.

Tastes horrible!
I just started taking it wihe creatine, HMB, and collagen. Honestly, I am not one to be fussy about the taste of any supplement or herb. but this is truly the foulest tasing stuff that has every went into my mouth. Don't put it in your coffee. I put the collagen, HMB, and creatine in my coffe and very little taste at all. But this stuff is foul, I don't even know what could hide that taste, it is so awful. - I found a resolution - Put your collagen and Cratine in your coffee. Mix up another small cup and put your Leucine and HMB in that and add some stevia, makes it more tolerable.

Bitter taste but sweet results.
Age 90. Except for keeping the house clean and repaired I don't do much exercise. I was told by my doc, two years ago, that I should worry about my legs getting weak. I forgot her comments until my balance started going down hill. A few months ago I started research and found out that everybody's legs get week in the later years of life. My research pointed me to L-Leucine as a help. Three months ago I started mixing 5gms L-Leucine to my Green tea first thing in the morning. After a few weeks my walking is much more steady (no cane for me). Glad I started L-Leucine.

Really helps with protein synthesis for seniors I think
Well, I’m told that seniors really need to get enough protein and one of the most important amino acids apparently is this amino acid it really is critical for protein synthesis so I pretty much monitor how much protein I’m getting and if I’m not getting enough, this can be added to a meal you know in one maybe 1 g or maybe 2 g and it’ll guarantee that I get the right amount of this amino acid for a particular meal so I think with protein and protein synthesis being a huge important topic for seniors this really helps

Nauseating
Just received this today. Opened it and the inner seal wasn’t sealed all the way. The smell about knocked me over. I mixed up some to start taking it and it is horrible. The smell and the taste are nauseating. I don’t have a weak stomach at all, but between the smell and the taste it was tough to swallow. I will tough it out for as long as I can and see if I notice a difference.

Makes a big difference, but method and consistency is key
I'm 64 and wasn't getting the results from resistance training that have in the past. Upped my protein intake and supplementation with no noticeable difference. Started supplementing with leucine, BCAAs, and HMB and muscle mass increased significantly after 4-6 weeks of consistent training and supplementation. Leucine should be taken on an empty stomach to maximize assimilation. I mix leucine and HMB with an ounce or two of water using a spoon to mix and press clumps against the glass to break it up, and then shoot the mixture followed by two glasses of water. Taste is not an issue if consumed in this manner. I do that in the AM upon waking, 30 minutes prior to consuming pre-work out protein shake w/BCAAs, and immediately after working out, waiting about 45 minutes before consuming post-workout meal w/BCAA supplementation. I also supplement with BCAAs (using same method) prior to bedtime before eating a half cup of cottage cheese. I've lifted weights my entire life and I've been able to put on more muscle mass with this supplementation routine at 65, than I did as a younger man without it. I'm sold.
