Brews great tasting coffee!
This is a solid coffee maker. We purchased this in 2023 and are still loving it. We appreciate that it will grind the beans fresh before brewing a pot of coffee, which provides really great tasting coffee. We also love that we can just brew a K-cup of coffee if we don't want to brew a whole pot. Overall, it brews a very easy to drink pot of coffee, not too weak or too strong. You can definitely hear the grinder when the carafe side brews, but I don't feel like it is "too loud"; it's comparable with a standard grinder that would work separately. Be aware that you will have to clean out the grinder with every use. I don't find that it is cumbersome to clean, but it is just part of the routine. There are two water reservoirs, one for the carafe side that holds the amount for a full pot of coffee, and then the "pod" side holds up to 40 oz. of water but has to have a minimum amount (8 ounces I think) for that side to be able to brew. I will also add that we had an issue with the way ours works and I really appreciated that the customer service team was very helpful in addressing this concern. That in and of itself makes me want to continue to work with this company.

It does make a great pot of coffee , but is labor intensive UPDATE! it burned up on my counter!
Bought in April,2024 I had to replace my older grind and brew so I went with this one. With the old one, it was pretty easy to fill the hopper on top with beans from time to time and forget about it.A frequent brushing out to keep the pathway clear for the ground coffee and you were all set. This new one is not a burr grinder but a blade chopper. It requires disassembly, cleaning and drying after each use. To brew a pot of coffee you have to measure the beans into the grinder assembly each time being careful not to overload it. The steam from the hot water rises up into the grinder during brewing and makes a slushy coffee powder paste inside that needs to be cleaned to make another pot. This model also has a kcup section that lets you brew individual cups using pods or you can buy the filter assembly so you can use ground coffee to make your own “pods”. I’ve had it for a few months now and it brews a fine pot of coffee automatically for us every morning with no issues. It would be nice to have a water level window in the tank for the kcups.you have to constantly look inside with a light to see if there is water and so you don’t over fill…it’s kind of an idiot design. That being said I feel we do use a bit less coffee measuring out the beans by hand instead of letting the grinder decide when to stop…and the coffee is great. The labor intensive process would make me not buy this again tho, as I was spoiled by the original burr grind and brew. It would be much easier just getting a bean grinder and using my old stove top percolator. Oh and the 12oz setting on the pod machine is a bit more than 16ozs when measured in a measuring cup so proceed accordingly. It gets 3 stars because it makes a good pot of coffee ( 3 1/2 stars if I could) but I dropped 2 stars for the labor intensive process involved and an assembly that spins that fast to grind the beans has got to wear, so I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop and have to buy replacement parts…I will keep you posted… December 3,2024.. About 7 months later and it still makes a great cup of coffee. It still auto brews at 8 am everyday and it’s still a pain in the butt to clean and dry the grinder each time I brew. And as I suspected the grinder parts are showing signs of wear so I’m shopping for spare parts and researching after market as opposed to trying to get it from the manufacturer direct…they’re a little pricey from them. But over all it’s still working well. I reached out to Cusinart with pictures of the wear on the grinder parts after only 7 months and they did respond with replacement parts..they’re under warranty UPDATE! This just burnt up on my counter as the coffee violently boiled in the carafe…I had to un plug it…it’s crap …I bought this on April 15th and it burned up on Super Bowl Sunday morning…Glad we were home This morning I Spent all morning on the phone. You get no credit from Cuisinart if you buy your stuff on Amazon.Theyll just offer a replacement. But it’s a fire hazard. So the rep shopped around to see what they have with a thermal carafe and no heat plate.Long story short,it cost me another$29! To get the only thing they had that my wife would even let in th house! Hope they make good use of that $29 as it is the last money they ever see from me.On the up side ,customer service was helpful and they can’t help it if the company they work for sucks. Don’t buy this crap ,it’s not safe and they don’t seem to care… Spend the extra money and get a Breville grind and brew…Holy Smokes what a difference YET ANOTHER UPDATE The replacement DGB- 850 grind and brew maker that I had to pay an extra$29 for it as a replacement makes the weakest, crappiest coffee of any coffee maker I’ve ever owned. I’ve tried different beans and the only way I can get a decent pot of coffee is to set it for 10 cups on the grinder control and use only 8 cups of water…this thing sucks badly…In the future I certainly wouldn’t buy Cuisinart anything…terrible stuff

Out of the box coffee maker, grinder, single serve (K-cup)
Tested only for 24hrs, at this point- coffee easy to make, understanding the grinder portion- easy, taste of fresh coffee- good.. Easy to follow directions, only complaint and not even worth a deduction, just something to be aware of- the grinding chamber- LOUD... other then that, no complaints, good coffee, does what it's supposed to do. Yes, you have to clean the grinder, but seriously- ok, maybe it takes 30 seconds...and yes you have to either throw out the filter (paper) or clean out the gold filter... I prefer the simplicity in throwing out a filter. Overall- sure, there could be a few things easier (for convenience) but not a show stopper. Removable water reservoir would be nice, water level meter on the kcup side would be nice, quieter grinder... But it does what it's supposed to do, grinds and makes fresh coffee... First product of this type for me (with added grinder) and I can say at this point- yes, I enjoy it, well done, hope it serves for a long time.

Id honestly give it 3.5 stars if I could
First-it makes a great cup of coffee. Grinds the beans nicely and is easy to clean afterwards. So far it has worked with all pods both keurig and off brands. My only two complaints are the separate water tank for the single cups is not seen from the side like the pot side is -you can't tell how much water is left and it's hard to see the water line inside because it's all black. The second one is the display in front does not light up and is hard to see. I still have not figured out how to make a pot with 8 or 10 cups - it only makes 12 -it could be somewhere in the programming I honestly haven't read the instruction manual all the way through. Still it's a very good coffee maker it's just these little annoyances that I have to get use to.

Definitely would buy it again
I was debating to order this coffee machine based on the reviews. Well I am glad I did. I have no issues whatsoever. Everything works as it supposed to. I also purchase the reusable filter cup and had no issues running over etc. They recommend not filling it with more that 2 1/2 scoops of coffee (incl with the coffee machine). The water compartment on the left side is no issue with me. I fill with my left hand resting the water carafe on the edge of the coffee machine to have a more steady hand. The coffee grinder has moisture in it, it’s right next to the water reservoir so steam is expected. The grinder is easy to take out and I let it air dry or wipe it dry. Coffee machine will not work without the coffee grinder being in place I love the machine and definitely would buy it again

Don’t do it
In the over 50 years of my life making coffee and using electric brewing devices, this is the only one that is a total disaster. The design execution is poor, cleaning difficult, results unpredictable. It does on occasion make a cup of coffee so the 2 stars. Mine is going into the dumpster today. On the coffee bean side, it is very difficult to pour water into the reservoir without spilling it either on the bean hopper side or the counter/floor. You have an inch or so target area for your pouring. A silicone flexible measuring cup is recommended. The pot is to hold 12 cups of coffee, but the reservoir holds less than 8 measured cups of water. If you spill some water on the bean side, it is very difficult to dry up, but it must be dried or the beans could be stuck together and jam the hopper. Filling the beans with the hopper in place may result in dropping beans in the water reservoir, where they are extremely difficult to retrieve, or around the beam grinder, which are also hard to fish out. Using a standard coffee bean scoop, only 10 scoops fit in the grinder where you would expect it to hold 12, one scoop for every cup of brewed coffee. As described in other reviews, the bean grinder has to be removed, cleaned and throughly dried every use. While one would expect the filter would be cleaned every use, my old pot from the same manufacturer would beep should you forget to empty it. This one does not, which can lead to a big mess to clean and a ruined pot of coffee. While all that can be managed with extreme care and attention to detail, the “K” side of the unit is unpredictable in its operation. See attached pic. It will work for a few cups, and then for no apparent reason, explode into a disgusting mess. Like playing Russian roulette, one never knows when this will happen. Water flows into the pod when you close the top and a hole is punched on the bottom to allow the brewed coffee to flow into your cup. If the one hole on the bottom should plug, water, coffee, and grounds explode all over. Keeping all clean, washing the removable part, even punching multiple holes on the bottom of the pod do not guarantee one will not explode when you least expect it. Lastly, the water tank for the pod side is not removable. So, if you were to use it only occasionally, you would have a cup of coffee using old stale water. You have to unplug the pot and take it to the sink to dump it out to use fresh water. Of course, if you have set up the bean side to brew a pot in the morning, and you want a pod of decaf, that also has to be totally taken apart before you can dump out that stale water on the pod side. Then dumping it out, don’t forget to remove that overflow/drip pan at the bottom of the pod side as it will dump all those nasty dripping all over. Taking the whole unit to the sink and carefully spraying off the parts covered with wet grounds is also the only way to clean up after a pod explosion. So after 5 months of trying to make this coffee maker work, it’s a fail. This whole expensive unit is heading to the landfill unfortunately. Good idea, poor design execution.

Mixed bag
So, here’s the deal, fellow coffee lovers: I got tired of my single-cup brewers dying after about two years consistently and sprung for The Mega Machine. I’m a professor and when I have negative feedback for a student then I always start and end with something positive. Let me begin by saying that I really do enjoy the fresh ground-and-brewed coffee that you get when using the carafe. Now for the negatives: 1. I have to unplug the machine after every use because if, like me, you like to leave various things open to air dry (I don’t want a moldy coffeemaker, do you?) then all sorts of lights start flashing and the machine won’t turn OFF when it registers that something is amiss. I can’t use any of the handy programmable features since I can’t leave it plugged in so every morning my coffeemaker is the machine version of Drew Barrymore in “50 First Dates.” 2. You must remove the grinder after every brewed pot even if you don’t grind anything because it gets chock full of moisture. And when you DO grind then said moisture totally gums up the works and a bunch of your fresh grounds don’t slide on down into the brewing basket. 3. Speaking of the grinder - what a disappointment it was to discover that it only works in tandem with the carafe! Want freshly ground beans to use with the single cup feature? Then you’ll need to have your mortar and pestle at the ready because the on-board grinder lives on the opposite side of town from the single-cup brewer and they’re not on speaking terms. 4. If you’re a tree-hugger and want to use your own coffee in a reusable single-serve pod then have fun finding one that works with this machine! It says that it’s compatible with “most” reusable k-cup filters but I tried three different ones and they all resulted in water running around the outside of the filters and dribbling out - sometimes into the cup but mostly all over the counter. The one DIY reusable pod that works with this coffee maker is NOT included with the machine. You need to spend another $12 on the official Cuisineart HomeBarista pod (conveniently available on this very site!). I don’t believe in single-use k-cups so, again, a bummer. 5. If you enjoy playing guessing games then you’re going to love trying to figure out how much water is in the single-cup reservoir. There’s no gauge on the single-serve side of town (even though there is one on the carafe side - but you don’t need that because you fill the carafe with the water you need, using the cup markers on the actual pot, and pour it in; redundancy for the carafe and nothing for the pod - the injustice of it all!). In the highly likely event that you overfill the pod reservoir then good luck avoiding electrocution as the excess water pours out of the hole in the back of the machine and all over the power cord that’s plugged into the outlet. I kid you not. 6. If you’re out of water then a water drop icon appears on the world’s smallest, darkest display. Backlight, anyone?! Not here. Have fun with THAT! To summarize: brewed coffee yummy. The rest of the many bells and whistles will leave you wishing, as I do, that I had purchased a different machine. Or, for that matter, three machines: one to brew a pot, one to make a cup and a grinder, which would have cost considerably less when purchased separately then the price tag was for The Mega Machine.
