This cage DOES NOT FIT THE A7ii as intended .
This cage DOES NOT FIT THE A7II!!! To be precise, it does fit, but the second mounting screw is incompatible with this model. Therefore, the "Double-Lock Design" feature of this cager is rendered useless. According to the product description, this was supposed to fit the A7II, among others. I bought this for my Sony A7II that is less than 3 months old. I've included pictures to illustrate as best I can. (Sorry for the poor picture quality of images taken with my phone; my good camera was the subject matter.)When purchased, and as I write this review, this item had no reviews or questions asked or answered on Amazon. This cage was stated as fitting the A7III/A7RIII/A7SII/A7M3/A7II/A7RII.It fit my camera fine, but the upper M2.5 screw was completely useless for this camera model. It was 1/4 inch from the eyelet. I could not understand how this could be until I looked at pictures of the other models. I looked at product pictures in the Best Buy catalog, and it is plain to see that on the A7ii, the right-hand eyelet is lower than the left-hand eyelet. In the other models, like the A7iii, the eyelets are both on the same level. No product that fits the A7ii eyelet can fit the A7iii or the other models listed; this much is quite evident. Other cages listed on Amazon, including one by Magicrig, have cages that fit many of the A7 models but not the A7ii, and now I can see why.I'm returning this cage immediately. I am not yet ready to write off Magicrig, but I'll remain skeptical of any product they make.Note: As I am writing this review, the product descriptions of both of Magicrig's cages I mentioned has been changed. The description now mentions that the second mounting screw is incompatible with the A7ii and the A7sii. (Possibly in response to my report of inaccurate information; I'm thankful I took a screenshot before.) But, instead of warning that the mounting hole doesn't fit, they really should eliminate the A7ii as among the compatible models, as it will surely fail without the second screw, IMO. At the very least, it will be quite unsteady.
