I am a woman with a smallish head, and shoulder length hair. Will this cover my ears? I'm hoping for one that will cover them at least somewhat.

Yes, it'll cover ears and it'll give you some room for your hair. The only thing to remember is to wet this cap first. When it is dry it very small. Remember that and do not be scared by the small size of it.

Is there an extra large size? This cap does not reach my ears.

You may want to try a cap for long hair. The Lycra caps do stretch after awhile but initially are pretty tight.
