Sennheiser HD6XX Open Back Professional Headphones - Black

Sennheiser HD 6XX was a purchase based on another review I read comparing the 6XX to HD 600 and the HD 650. I am very pleased with this headphone as it replaced a HD 560 Ouvation headphones of 35 years. The sound has a bit more revealing sonics and greater soundstage/ cleaner delivery that just feels more accurate and has better neutrality. I was surprised at its better presentation. On a less noticeable detail, the bass is not as present and could be from just having open ear construction, although bass eq boost has a pleasing effect that isn't noticeably distorting within reasonable levels. Actually it has stronger damping - no boominess. The range between the low -mids and up through the higher mids into the presence range is rather flat without anything noticeably standing out (which is a good thing). The treble range is also smooth and does not give the listener any fatigue. As far as the heavy-handed force on the head it does loosen over time and it can also be lowered by taking the earcups out of the headband, making the fit looser. The price is very reasonable for what this compares to in Sennheiser's other offerings. Overall this headphone is very good for fine audio affecionado listening. I've read these phones are made to pair with tube amplifiers but I found them awesome on chi-fi usb dac devices on smartphones. No regrets at this pricepoint.

These are my new favorite open back headphones for sim racing. I have the AKG K7XX as well, which also sound great but don't feel as secure on my head. The HD6XX are a snugger fit. I can see them being uncomfortable for people with a larger head, but they're great for me. I do wish they had a suspension band like the K7XX, as the band on the HD6XX can press into your head a bit after a while. I had to replace the cord due to 1 channel that was intermittent out of the box, but I needed a longer cord anyway so it wasn't worth returning. Others have written at length about the sound profile, so I won't beat that horse any further, but I love separation, clarity, and when my headphones expose parts that I haven't heard before; these cans deliver that in spades. Overall, I find these to be a great value and would purchase again.

Great headphones but the clamp force I can’t do it but if you can then these are a good buy for 200. I don’t have a big head I’m on the small - medium size

These are incredible headphones. The overall sound profile is very accurate and easy to listen to, but some may complain that the Bass is lacking. They also have a smaller/more intimate sound stage, which some may not like, but they are very directionally accurate with solid separation. I think that they are fairly comfortable without my glasses, but WOULD NOT RECOMMEND with glasses, at least not with the stock pads. My wife doesn't wear glasses, and we are keeping this pair for her. I've heard that after market pads will fix the comfort with glasses, and I have no complaints for the sound. If you want something that sounds very similar with a more comfortable design, I really like the Sennheiser HD 490. They are a bit warmer (less flat/accurate for reproduction) with a wider sound stage and slightly better separation.

These are my first open-back headphones so I don't have a lot to compare them to, but I'm really loving the sound. They take a fair amount of power to drive so I think you'd want a decent headphone amp with them, I got a Fosi ZH3 and the combination sounds really good. Some people have complained about them being a little uncomfortable, while they are pretty snug I find them to be pretty comfortable, and I have a fairly large head and wear glasses. Very glad I got these!

Out of the box my pair of 6XX’s had no sound from the right speaker. Pretty disappointing! Should have heeded the warning that they were a frequently returned item.

These headphones are great. I now have over 40 hours of listening time. Definitely got better over time. I stretched them out for a day when I got them and have no issues with comfort. My head is on the larger side. I will say, faster hard rock (think Maiden), isn't as detailed as other types of rock, pop, easy listening, synth or country music. I don't listen to Jazz or classical, so can't comment on those styles. Pretty damn awesome for under $300!

Best headphones I have ever owned, clean audio, durable, and good value.

Compré con “CST Group” y recibí el modelo HD58X directo del almacén de Amazon, incluso venía etiquetado como los HD6XX, nada que ver un modelo con otro, los HD58X son un modelo mas económico y menos capaz, vease en massdrop, así que me da la impresión de que es su forma de estafar, inicié la devolución de inmediato y terminé consiguiendo los HD650 directo de Sennheiser que son lo mismo que este modelo, pero ligeramente mejor.

i already have a pair of HD600 and love the sound, but these are slightly more refined sounding, and seem to have better sound-staging. I bought these because I thought there was a problem with one of the hd600 drivers (turned out to be a problem with an equaliser device). I am overall happy with the purchase. If you have a pair of the HD600, and you are happy with them then stick with them, as they are a lovely sounding set of cans. If you were wondering which of the HD6 series to buy then I think the HD6XX are the sweet spot and a good balance of great sound and affordability. They probably compare to the HD650 in character more than the hd600.

I really wanted to love the Sennheiser HD6XX, but they just don’t live up to the hype. First off, they’re super uncomfortable. The clamping force is too tight, and the padding is so stiff that it doesn’t do much to help. As for the sound, there’s basically no bass. If you like your music to have any low-end punch, these will leave you sorely disappointed. The build quality is also shockingly bad for headphones at this price. They feel cheap and flimsy, like they’d snap if you weren’t careful. For something that’s marketed as “professional,” I expected way better. Honestly, for the cost, you can find way more comfortable, durable, and better-sounding headphones.
