Great set
Another great proto tool. It's my favorite brand, quality for the money

Stanley took over Proto—don’t know who took over them
I wanted to like this pliers, mainly for it being made in the US.It is not the same pliers as my original Proto 223G. That’s obviouscomparing the two. The original pliers’ jaws were softened by usinga torch on something, along with overheating the jaws (I’ll try re-heat-treating this old one.) I need the long and thin jaws for working onfishing lures, jewelry and various other hobbies. The other objection I have is the way the jaws come together (see thepic). I’m returning these because of these reasons and the fact that thecost is too high—I can get a set of 6 pliers for less than I paid for thisProto. I probably will go with a Channel Lock model and still pay $4 less, although I didn’t really want a wire cutter function. I couldn’t put thepliers through any strenuous tests knowing it would be re turned butI did give this tool 4+ stars, mainly because it’s made here in the U Sand it looks like and probably is a quality tool.

Terrible quality. Bad fit and finish. Poor value.
Worse than just terribly disappointing -- they're that, too -- these pliers are simply poorly made. Even my ultra-cheap "throw-away" pliers from the big-box stores are made better than this garbage from Proto. This was a huge let-down, because in general I love Proto tools. Usually the quality is up there with that big German brand that starts with a "K", for example. However, whoever was doing quality control while these pliers were being made was asleep at the wheel. For starters, the jaws on these pliers are bowed, so they contact in the middle lengthwise (see photo) rather than at the tips or evenly across their lengths. Second, the black oxide coating is garbage, rubbed off numerous places straight out of the box. Third, the machining is TERRIBLE. I mean, wow. Did they have some apprentice's brother come in and try to "wing it" on the line one day while the CNC mill was down or something? It's not even, it's not straight, and -- most baffling of all -- the edges aren't even broken, so they're sharp as all get-out. Finally, this is a minor detail, but the laser engraving isn't even centered over the pivot point.Check out the photos of all of these things. These pliers are getting returned; total garbage, and for the price I can get either a bunch of non-name cheapies that would be better than these.

light weight, nimble
Got the tool that was in the picture.Light weight, moves freely. I have not used it so far but I used the same tool at my job. I like the needle nose, real needle nose feature which makes it nimble and a pleasure to work with. The only negative I have noticed on this one is the excessive play which cause the tip of the pliers to misalign a bit.

Ok for electrical work, but not fine enough to grab something really thin
I see now why people order tools from Germany. This was made in the U.S.A. Usually, a fine pointed needle nose plier can grip something as thin as a sheet of printing paper. Not this one. On close position it has enough space to let the sheet fall through. Cannot rip a piece off the sheet let alone even make an impression on it. It's good for bending thicker pieces of material, like coat hangers, and thicker gauge wires, but not for fine metal work. There was a piece of really thin aluminum bracket stuck on my valve cover (about the thickness of one sheet of paper). This plier can reach it, but it couldn't pull it out because it couldn't clamp on it grab the broken bracket. I can use it for other things, but I'll buy a wiha from now on.

Great tiny plliers!
good for close corners electrical work(like in boxes and small gauge wires) and also great if you are doing a ton of control work or even telecomm. if you want a sturdy, job tough tiny needle nose pliers, than buy these now!

Been searching for this.....
I've been looking for a pair of pliers USA made with a thin narrow needle nose that has serrations. This combo is incredibly hard to find. It really is a thin narrow needle nose unlike brands that make similar claims. Only reason for not giving it 5 stars is I would have like to have a slightly longer 7 inch. Other than that nothing else appears to come close.
