I don't get it
Someone explain this thing to me. It's a poly coated hammer so when you use it the poly splits. The hammer even has a warning on it saying that pieces of the hammer could fly off during use. So I can only assume they do this so that whatever you are hitting doesnt get damaged. Problem is the poly doesnt hold up. I split the hammer after 10 minutes of hitting logs into a kindling splitter. I just cant recommend this thing unless you plan on not hitting something very hard and are very afraid of damaging whatever you are hitting. I just dont get it. Going back to Amazon.

GREAT MALLET
This is a great mallet for pounding stakes into difficult ground. We use it to pound in sand stakes in very loose sand and the mallet works better than a conventional hammer or anything we've tried before. The bright orange color is a bonus as its easy to see and the plastic/rubber coating makes it waterproof. Of note, there is some kind of sand material in the head of the hammer, so it is not one solid piece of material, but it works perfectly.

Breaks in sub zero temps
This hammer does not get used a lot, but when it does it is used on metal bins and all weather conditions. After a couple of weeks and 5 or so uses it split open. I was not to happy about that, however we were in the middle of a cold spell when it broke. I should note that when I say a cold spell, I mean zero to negative thirty degrees.

Kindling wood
Nice mallet, can grip really good. Serves the purpose of hitting kindling wood in a splitter.

Just what I wanted
Very happy with what we got. Performs well. We use it to seat croquet wickets on a professional court. Only annoyance is the sound of sand moving in the mallet as you swing it.
