Works great, but MUST be mixed with food rodents will eat.
Finally addressed the rodent problem without endangering my dog or the wildlife population in my neighborhood, which includes owls, hawks, and bald eagles. All birds that standard rodenticide puts it serious risk. I was so relieved to find an option that was not only pet safe, but safe for the predatory birds and coyotes. The rats won't touch it if it's not mixed with something they're attracted to. We used peanut butter and sunflower seeds. Also, make sure there's no water sources available for rodents or the ratx won't work. Great stuff, highly recommend!!

It only works if they eat it
So about a year ago, developer started tearing up the woods behind us to build houses. That pushed the coyotes farther in and wiped out the feral cat population, leaving nothing to control the rat population which exploded. The result was that the whole neighborhood has been overrun off and on for the last year. Now as far as this product is concerned, it kills quickly and is safe for pets and does exactly as they say it will do on the label. The problem is that IT ONLY WORKS IF THEY EAT IT!!! . I followed all the directions, put it out exactly as specified read all the reviews and even attempted some of the hacks that I read like mixing with birdseed, etc. With the exception of 2 very young rats, nothing, and I do mean nothing, convinced these rats to eat this bait even when all other available, food sources were removed and they were starving so badly that they were eating the plastics in my pantry. That being said, a while after I put it out I did start to smell dead rat in two different places and true to the claims on the label, it did not last long and I barely smelled them. I have dogs and cats and birds that I did not want to be poisoned so this was a great alternative. It was clean, easy to use, and pretty much stays exactly like it is when you put it out. Six months later I’m still finding the packets I threw out and they’re all still just fine even though they’ve been on the ground under the house under the sinks, etc.. and I do believe it kills very quickly because I put it near a nest where I had seen some young ones and within just a few, days I was smelling it. To give you some perspective, the infestation that my neighbors and I had been experiencing was severe. This product I bought twice,; once in the store and once online and both times it cost me $30 for a total of $60 for the two bags that eventually snared only two rats. In comparison., I caught 23 on glue traps, my Bully/Pitt mix caught and killed half a dozen, and I finally exterminated the last half dozen or so with regular poison. So I only gave one star because of the numbers.

Appears to have been very effective.
Short story brief, after a few "what did I just see?" over a couple of weeks our back yard was suddenly overrun with rats. 5 to 8 out at a time during daylight. This is in a suburban setting with the back yard abutting woods which then abut a powerline right of way. Our neighbor has a lot of bird feeders out. I used bacon grease and peanut oil to coat the RatX and placed it in bait boxes along the wood line. Refreshed at day 2 and have not seen a rat since then.

Works decent
Rats/mice would not eat it. I had to rub peanut butter on it to get the rats/mice to eat it. After doing this, I didn’t notice a decline in rats/mice.

Rats won't eat the product as sold
Rats won't eat the product as sold. Hence 1) I added peanut oil, some powdered sugar and sprinkled in peanuts and sunflower seeds -> rats ate most of it. But they learned and stopped eating it. 2) I escalated to adding peanut butter besides peanut oil+sugar->rats licked the RatX sticks clean and threw them aside but some of the RatX was eaten. 3) I tried grinding to mix with PB: it didn't work bc it is difficult to grind. 4) I added condensed milk and peanut butter-> Ratx turned into a powder that the rats wouldn't touch. Threw away the powdery Ratx about 2 cups worth 5) I went back to Ratx sticks with peanut oil, PB, sugar and I got exasperated so I slipped in some baking soda (supposedly another rodenticide) so that, if all they did was lick off the PB they would eat the baking soda. Rats didn't touch it. 6) Tonight, I took this untouched batch and added melted beef fat+ bacon fat + another blob of PB. I'll update as to whether it was eaten or not. Update: rats ate it. As to overall results: there has been a decrease in rat activity and 3 rats showed up dead. So far. I've gone through 3.5 lbs worth of RatX in ~3 weeks. Update: 1 more dead rat and activity in all tunnels stopped. No activity by the nest itself which is under my porch. So RatX did work although it took some work to have the rats eat it. I recommend the use of peanut oil+sugar and beef fat/bacon fat. It seemed to work best.

Important to read the directions
From what I have experienced, this product works as intended. First off, the product is safe for all animals but rats and mice. The cautionary statement? Is read the instructions carefully. This is NOT a miracle product that will eliminate the problem overnight. With proper use, it will take a few days to act. But it will work. Our problem? We live in an area with vermin outnumber humans and no matter what, they will come back. Small or even medium infestation populations this will work fine. Again, you must take the time to thoroughly read the instructions and if possible, reach out to the manufacturer for additional instructions and information. Customer service is outstanding, and they will be willing to help. This particular product is simple to use, quick to setup, and sit back and wait.

This product really does work, and I'm able to keep the rat population under control with the peace of mind knowing that my cats, dogs, poultry, livestock and wildlife are all safe from harmful poisons. Be methodical, consistent and patient (it takes 3 to 5 days for rats to die), but it really is effective. I locate the rat runs, and simply pour the Rat X into the exit/entrance holes where I can monitor whether it's being taken. Once taken, I continue to top it up. Apparently it takes 10 to 15 pellets to kill an adult rat, and less for juveniles. Adult rats will also take the pellets to feed their young in the nest. It works by coating the rats stomach thereby interfering with the nerve impulses that go to the brain that tells the rat to drink. So, in effect the rat kills itself by not drinking, and becomes so dehydrated that it dies. Unfortunately in the UK only small, 227g bags are available to buy, and they're not cheap! However there is a 3lb (remember it's an American product, so they're still using imperial measures) bag available, that's more cost effective, even with the additional postage, if you're willing to wait for it to arrive from America. In my opinion, due to the horrific effect that other rat and mouse poisons have on our animals and wildlife, this should now be the only product licensed for use in controlling rodent vermin, in the uk. Rat X will not harm cats, dogs, or wildlife, such as owls, even if they catch and eat an affected mouse or rat because it's just dehydrated. Top marks to the Americans for developing such a safe and natural product.
