WOW!!!
I mean really, just WOW!!!Im a sucker for this album, it always seems fresh sounding whenever i listen to it, so i had to go for this issue. This is such a great package, well manufactured, well though out and just a joy to beholdTo be honest, the posters and the book are worth the cost of admission, but holy crap! you get LOADS of cool music on CD and two 45's with it too! Although i must admit, i only recently bought the SACD version, so i guess i may only listen to the extras and the 45's (and compare the new issue with SACD)Im so glad I bought this super deluxe version, and for what you get, i think it is a reasonable price. Its 12" x 12" and an inch thick, so you will have to store it with your vinyl, or re-house the CDsI ordered on Saturday, and Amazon graced me with the goodies on Monday, with a smile i may add.

Pricey box, but rewarding.
I had to close my eyes when I clicked "buy now" as my wallet was screaming in pain and I had to put it in a box to get a rest from all the weeping and wailing, but once I had a chance to sit down and absorb the whole thing I felt better. To be honest, I could do without the little bit of paper, the posters etc, they get looked at once and put away - If they could have done the CD's and the book alone and shaved £20 off the price, that would work for me.As for the music, it's very thorough - I don't think there's much left in the vault after this. I don't think I will listen to the mono mix too much, the stereo mix sounds great. As I write I haven't got to the "Road To Tommy" and "Townshend Demos" discs, which, I hope, will sound as good as I hope they do.

Get on board the magic bus with the Who Sell Out-super deluxe box set
Get on board the magic bus with this super deluxe edition. It is worth the price of admission. You get a lot of bang for your buck. It is a quality box set, superbly put together and packaged. With super deluxe sets many of us do ummm and Ahhh about paying the extra and worry if we do then what we are buying will not live up to expectations. I am pleased to report The Who Sell Out (Super Deluxe Edition) is worth your time and effort to purchase. It is a quality buy for a dedicated Who fan as for the first time buyer of a Who LP. It all adds up to a quality listen, a quality read and a quality product.

Buy it.... before they sell out!
Bands, record companies will take every opportunity they can to make a few quid out of hardcore fans because they know we'll snap these up. Some punters will snap these up to sell on at a higher price .....it's the cycle of life.....a crackin box set of a great album, with a solid book, posters and 2 x 7" vinyl singles.....the outstanding and best Who song ever , I can See for miles and Magic Bus. Demo's,stereo, mono mix......love it.

Best boxset yet?
This might be the best Who boxset yet. The 67-68 period is sometimes overlooked but there's loads of evidence here of a band finding their feet with a wide range of styles and an almost carefree approach. The Who Sell Out is a brilliant album but there's so much more here.

Lots of good stuff - if you're a Who fan from the early days
This Super Deluxe blah blah blah anniversary stuff must be keeping somebody off of the streets - my wife thinks it may be leading us TO the streets, buts that's beside the point. The Who Sell Out was hardly their most popular or well known album to any but the most dedicated and early Who fan. That would be me. Whatever they were thinking I always thought this album was classic. It sounds like a bunch of kids (they were really a bit old for that description) let loose in a recording studio. A bunch of very talented lids with a lot of new at the time technology at their fingertips. I'm sure the record label wasn't thrilled - especially when they had to get clearance to use the copyrights for the totally unmusical products they parodied. The remixes of the original album are superb. Hopefully they are accurate to the original mixes as heard in the control room when it was recorded, but of course there's no way to tell that - even the musical memory of the band and producers isn't that good. But the sonics knocked me out. "I Can See for Miles" has a depth and punch I've never heard before - but I like it. The bottom end rumbles like Entwhistle must have meant it to. The extras are not only reveling but really interesting. You can hear "Tommy" emerging - the themes and ideas are there already in the demos and extras. And who ever thought the Who would knock off the Stones - and be good at it? Under My Thumb - really Pete? I could go on and on - but if you were into the Who and one of the ten people who bought this album in all of it's vinyl glory back when you were a kid (teenager maybe) you now have a better sounding copy to replace your original (I still have mine - it's one I never bothered to sell when I got the CD - but it shows it's age - record care was never one of my strong points). It reminds me why I thought CD's were such a great thing when you have to get up every 15 minutes to flip it - or stop it to keep the needle from cutting a hole in the record. Each side sure seems short on vinyl. If you loved the original I highly suggest you get this in the Super Deluxe version.
