MAXXHAULTowing Products MaxxHaul 70423 Universal Aluminum Truck Rack - 400 lb Capacity

I purchased this rack primarily to hold my Bote SUP which is 11ft 6in and weighs about 34 pounds and it does an excellent job at that! However, it is capable of doing so much more. I have had my two seater kayak and a long board sufboard racked up on it as well and it holds it all perectly! The aluminum uprights and cross bars makes this whole unit very light weight yet very sturdy as in very little flex whatsoever when its all bolted up. The bed rail clamps are welded and powder coated steel with stiff rubber inserts for grabbing underneath your bed rails once bolted on and grip super tight. Everything has held tight and secure not only during highway speeds but super bumpy and rough conditions through all the contsruction going on near me. It whistles like a 747 coming in for a landing as your going down the road but not a critter for 40 miles will ever run out in front of you on a dark stretch of highway and it scares small children away but that adds to the safety element of these racks. I have read a couple of reviews complaining about rust and in a salt water environment, where I use mine, I am starting to see a little bit show up around the steel parts such as the clamps and the upright gussets. These are usualy small corners where the powder coating doesnt quite reach but is an easy fix with just a shot of aluminum colored Rustoleum spray paint. Spray down in those corners and let it run down into the cracks and this will keep it protected. I also have slowly but surely started replacing all the hardware (bolts) with stainless steel for two reasons, the stuff it comes with is cheap Chinese garbage and I need the corrosion resistance SS offers being in a salty environment. I saw a few complaints about packaging as well and even though the box mine came in looked beat up, everything inside was bubble wrapped really well and in good shape when I opened it. Assembly is quick and about a four beer process taking your time listening to some good music. I probably will never exceed the 400 lbs rating but I am sure these racks are up for the tasking if need be and maybe a little more if your load is dispersed properly. I see several opportunities to modify these racks with different attachments and tie down points but I have the skills and tools to do this safely so do not attempt if this is not your forte'. Overall I am more than satisfied with this purchase and you would be hard pressed to find a better deal out there for aluminum racks! My application is a 2005 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab with a toolbox and a short box bed but they look great back there!. I have bed rail covers but the clamps fit right over them. They will not fit over a bed cover track or rail system as stated in the product description. You will not be dissapointed in these racks! Hope this helps.

I bought this rack to hold my kayak for a trip to the coast. This thing is way overkill for the just a kayak, but I can load it up if needed.Packaging: When i received the package the cart board edges were torn open and some of the parts were sliding out of the box. One of the plastic covers to the top rail was missing. I assume it fell off during shipping. I didn't send it back because we were leaving on a road trip the next morning.From the looks of the box, this item was abused. However, each item was packaged in bubble wrap pretty well which helped from getting scratched up.Quality: The rack is pretty solid and made of thick aluminum and steel. Note that only the up supports and the cross members are aluminum. The brackets that hold the rack to the bed are made of steel and fairly heavy.Fit: The rack was fairly easy to put together. The instruction are written well enough to assemble it, but the pictures in the instructions are worthless (very blurring). Note that you WILL have to cut slots in your bed cover for the brackets to hold on to the bed. This is stated in the instructions.Overall: I like this rack for the price. Once you tighten all of the screws this rack is very solid. I would have given this item 4 stars if it was packaged better and a plastic end piece was not missing.

I Love this rack! It is a great deal.JUST AS GOOD AS A $THULE$!!!!However, I have rust forming on the "rust proof" base brackets. Supposedly these are powder coated and not supposed to rust but after installing them and 1 rainfall I noticed rust on it. It's not that big a deal but I don't want these to be falling apart in a year's time with Midwest weather.I've tried contacting their customer service line via email and I've had no luck. there is no phone number listed on their website. NOT COOL!I'm tempted just to return it to Amazon for a different one and see if that one works any better. However they are out of stock right now ... damn the luck!UPDATE!!!!!!!I finally received an email from the MaxxHaul company. Their response was that should just take the rusting part, clean them up and paint it with a good rust proof paint like rustoleum.Is this really my responsibility?!?I thanked them and I did paint it and it looks great but again, for a product that is advertised as "rust-proof" base brackets. I think that they should at least pay for or send me the paint... OR SOMETHING!Maybe I'm expecting too much here.Result: I love this rack, it works great for me and you can't beat the price.... just a little flawed.

Great quality for the Price point...I recently installed this and cannot say how happy I am for finally making the purchase. Very easy installation 90min total for an amateur, will be much quicker for a pro. Quality of the product is just as good as the pricey THULE and TracRac kits. And Yesss it fits a 2016 Nissan Frontier!

Item shipped fairly quickly however, upon opening package I found several broken plastic pieces within.The first thing you should do is replace ALL the metric fasteners provided, with STEEL...I don't know what these are made of, but they are terrible; strip and shear easily.Assembly requires some basic mechanical knowledge, as the instructions are vague and the parts aren't properly identified. Photos are blurry and can be a challenge to follow.It has been on my truck for only ONE week and is already showing signs of rust. If I could give it LESS than one star, I would. The vendor has done nothing to remedy the problems I've encountered, other than to claim that it is Amazon's problem. Strangely enough, I am unable to post a review on the Vendor.Would NOT recommend this product.

Ive had this. rack for 2 years and i use it for work as a ladder rack. I have no issues with it. It did start rusting about a year of use but then again i use it in all year round in -40°C snow storms, rainy weather and summer time.

I read reviews and a few negative comments on the quality.I think the quality is really good and the welds are good as well. I put it on a 2020 F150 with factory box liner and it fits perfectly without having to trim the liner.Highly recommend it and great value for the money

Could use some hooking points to attach cargo straps!
