DXS18 Powered Subwoofer

I am a big fan of Yamaha AV equipment and instruments, my family owns a lot of pieces of Yamaha. I have never had an issue with my Yamaha's sound (I have some HiFi gear from 90's that still works) and video gear, and this sub is no exception. Much bigger than I expected for 15" sub, but great bass and works very well with DBR15 speakers (probably oversized for this combo). 135SPL is a lot, more than many 18" subs offer (and yes, these typically give you a few more Hz on the lower end). I will be definitely getting the 2nd one, as the quality and function is great.

An excellent sub at an excellent price, from an amazing seller!! Very powerful for it's size and built to the standard I expect from Yamaha! Will definitely buy more units!

Compact and powerful

Yamaha is a well known brand name for many years. They put in a lot of money in research because they simply can and they want to protect their brand Just think about it for a second. Do you really think a 300 or 400 dollar sub-woofer can beat a subwoofer that costs twice as much? Think again. Always know this: you get what you pay for. I purchased several sub-woofers before. They looked giant and heavy and advertised as "best seller", "top rated" etc. only to return them after a few days. Why? It's because they're cheaply made and they have no real engineering substance. They just put a giant speaker inside a giant box and call it a product! Also, a live performance subwoofer is very different from a home theater subwoofer. Don't ever use one made for HT for live performance because you're going to pop it in a short period of time. That's what I did with my Polk sub. Even the so-called live performance subs with less well known brand will not be able to respond to certain low frequencies and they sound terrible. In short, save your money and get this Yamaha subwoofer. You will NOT be sorry. In fact, you will be very happy with your investment and save some embarrassment if you do a lot of live performances.

Coupled with a pair of jbl 308 mk2s the sub sounds amazing. Speaker is light weight, has great sound quality, and for the money the speakers definitely hold there value!

Bought a pair of these from somewhere else as an upgrade to some Alto and Harbinger subs. To say it's a massive improvement would be an understatement. I have used them combined with a QSC 18" sub and although they don't hit quite as low as the QSC, once you start getting into their sweet spot between 60hz and 100hz they thump just as hard. Insanely loud and I have yet to see the clip light turn on. For a subwoofer they are pretty light and easy to carry. The Yamaha cover is brilliantly designed. It doesn't come with it but I recommend buying it. They are designed so you never have to take the cover off, just open the flaps and you're ready to go. So why not 5 stars? At some frequencies there's a resonant vibration/buzz coming from somewhere around the back panel. It's not really audible in a live setting but it's still there. I've spoken with other owners and they have confirmed that theirs do it too. Not really a big deal but it does stop it from being perfect.

Really well made and the sound is outstanding. I am used to hifi subwoofers that have much better low end extension compared to PA subs however this sub can hold its own there and the bass is much tighter.

This sub is amazing. I knew it was going to be good but nothing like this. The sounds and power coming out of the 12” is amazing. We use it for our live band event and only had the volume barely on and changed our gig 100%. Highly recommend this Yamaha subwoofer if your looking for raw power..

Bonito y muy potente. Complementó perfectamente mis 2 k8's agregando un cuerpo espectacular al sonido del grupo. Un poco pesada y cara sin embargo. La conseguí en oferta a 15mil.

I am impressed with the sound outsoors. I set this up in the garage with 3 15" peavey speakers and a second sub from peavey. With the 16' door open and the speakers 10' in the garage they filled the entire yard and this sub really hits. Can't compare the peavey sub to this monster. Clean deep and powerful. I have a 3 acre yard and it was heard and felt everywhere.
