Great picture sound & ease of use !
Iam confused by those who do not give this product a good review ! My exprience with it was a fast install ,easy set up and a very good picture and sound ! Perhaps the specs of your PC may have something to do with it . I had a Quick Cam the originila model on my previous PC a P3 750MHz and found some of the same behavior others ar complaining about wit their web cam . However I have this Quick Cam Communicate on my newer Dell XPS400 2.8GHz Dual Core 3GB DDR2 RAM and the product works great ! I also have the ATI's TV Wonder Elite and again that works like a charm. The only problem I have now is to convince all of those in my addess book to add the web cam to their PC so we can communicate via internet and see eachother . I have alot of family in the Chicago area and I live in the San Francisco Bay area !Take Care to All,Nick

I love this webcam!!
It's easy to set up, user friendly, and works great with Google voice and video chats. I had to download Firefox as I had glitches trying to use Google chats with Explorer/Vista. With Firefox, it works beautifully. My only complaint, and the reason I rated it a 4 instead of a 5, is that the video effects stall out. I didn't buy it for video effects, so really don't care. At this great price it does EVERYTHING I bought it for. You can even launch Google Mail with video calling from the convenient tool bar. My first call, a visit with my 5-month-old grandson, was worth more than the $42 I paid for the webcam. Now my 87-year-old father who's never used a computer wants one - and I believe he could handle it.

An older webcam that works with Windows 7
Although the installation disc that comes with this camera said that it is not compatible with Windows 7, the camera did automatically install itself on my Windows 7 computer when I plugged it into the USB port. This camera successfully served a specific purpose for me. I needed a camera that would be compatible with Windows 7 and with club management software that was released in 2000 by a now-defunct company. That antiquated software will need to be replaced one day, but due to budget constraints, that day is not here yet. In the meantime, I succeeded in the seemingly impossible task of finding a camera old enough to work together with my business software (which does not seem to support any newer cameras) but new enough to work with Windows 7 (which does not support any cameras that we used with our older Windows XP computer). This camera is not top-of-the-line or state-of-the-art, but it is of decent quality for a 2004 camera. If you find yourself in the same type of technological predicament I was in, then this camera may provide your solution as well.

It is just OK
On the positive side, I can say it works but spotty at times. Video is often grainy, out-of-focus and sometimes, if the light is not just right, the camera will not image at all. When this happens, I have found that pointing the camera at a light will trigger it on...most times. this may sound obvios but the best results are obtained with consistent lighting illuminating the subject (a small desk lamp...) with no backlight from windows, ceiling lights, etc. After buying three as gifts for Xmas presents, I ended up buying a Pro9000 2.0 MP and there is a remarkable improvement in overall sensitivity and resolution...much more than I would have reasonably imagined. Those gift receivers that got the 1.3 MP were a bit unhappy. The Pro 9000 2.0 MP is so much better than the "lower resolution" cameras, don't waste you time with this one (1.3 MP)...it is especially a hassle for older folks...Note also that unless both ends of the link have decent internet access (cable or DSL or fiber), this sort of thing is a disappointment altogether...

Great buy, cross-platform support.
These are great little cams. As previously mentioned, the picture is quite good and the automatic light adjustment is better than I'd have expected. I've sold several of these over the years and it is one of the few cams that all features work perfectly with Linux. Plug it in and you're finished. I had one person who used it on a Windows box and it performed fine there as well. No fuss, cross-platform support makes this a winner.

Logitech Webcam
I am very unhappy with this purchase, although I have never had a problem before with a Logitech product. The sound quality is very poor, but I think I may have gotten a "lemon" I am sending it back to Amazon for an exchange, which I hope will solve the problem

Good web cam on GNU/Linux
Good performance, easy to use, UVC-compliant, plug and play setup. Can do 640x480 at 30 fps in Guvcview, higher resolution at lower fps. Works well with Skype, Ekiga and other programs. Colors and light adjustments are good. The microphone performs well, though I'm using an old, cheap microphone that performs equally. This web cam sits well on monitors of different thicknesses and also sits well on a desk. It has a long USB cable and you can swivel the camera on the vertical and horizontal axes to adjust the picture angle. A green light turns on when the cam is actively receiving video. The manual "eyelid" is a nice extra feature. This cam is also small, light and attractive.
