Lovely cosy, Christmas novel
I’ve really come to enjoy the novels of Jo Thomas which link foreign travel and a passion for food. This adds in a soupcon of Christmas as well for good measure and on the whole leaves you with a warm glow brought on by a fun time spent with family and good food.Fliss our heroine is great, practical and recovering from a relationship which ultimately meant different things to both parties. I also loved Jason, and Charlotte, the Chatelaine of the Chateau. The setting is beautiful and in the acknowledgements, Jo Thomas talks about being inspired by Escape to the Chateau, which follows Brits moving to France and renovating Chateaus. The food aspect concerns the growing and eating of apples which feature heavily in a number of recipes. As an extra Brucie bonus, Jo Thomas has helpfully added some recipes I can confirm that the Normandy Chicken is de-lic-ious.The story is lovely. It is a time for healing for all of our characters and the town they live in. This is a lovely novel, set at Christmas and set in a foreign land, it’s so cosy.

Always a treat
When Fliss and her sisters, Nellie and Lizzie arrive in France to see the house they have inherited from their beloved grandfather, the last thing they expect to find is a beautiful chateau. What’s more, they don’t expect to find it has a sitting tenant! Thanks to French law, they soon discover that they cannot sell the property and must set out to make the chateau pay for itself or lose it forever to the previous owners. But Chateau Des Arbres carries more than one secret and more than one hitch along the way. Fliss soon discovers the locals are less than happy to see her and they are not going to make her quest easy.Full of autumnal warmth, apples, food and lashings of apple brandy, this book is an absolute delight to read. This is the perfect jaunt through France and a wonderful easy read to see you through the evenings as the weather begins to turn. My only downfall is, I can’t make a Jo Thomas book last longer than 2 days. And so I go back to waiting for the next one to appear.

Celebrations at the chateau.
Normally I enjoy this author's books, but somehow couldn't engage with the story.. I normally like books set in France, but this one I really struggled with, it didn't seem to have any flow, & seemed stilted , so I sadly gave up after my 4th chapter.

Good book
This is a interesting book but not one of her best..i didnt connect to the main chracters. The book kepted me wanting to know more however I felt I was reading, getting involved at a distance. That said it was a lovely book with a sweet plot. I just wished i could have felt connected as i had with her other books.
