A quality product
This is a very well designed & constructed product sold at a very reasonable price. It takes patience & focus to assemble it as there are many parts but the instructions are reasonably clear. The assembly instructions are visual schematics which could use some text but by following them closely the product goes together very well. It took me about 3 hrs to assemble. If you have trouble visualizing how things go together and lose patience easily, get someone else to assemble this for you. This is a top quality product and well worth the time to assemble it.

Nice looking piece of furniture
Looks good quality and holds a lot of files. A bit of a nuisance to put together and had difficulty with one of the drawers when putting it together but was able to get it to come together

Nice heavy lateral cabinet
Assembled product was as described. Assembly required a couple hours but all parts clearly marked, Instructions were clear and best was hardware for each step was separately bagged/packaged for each of 14 steps.

As beautiful as it is…there are things wanting
This file cabinet is a lovely piece of furniture and in that regard, I would give 5 stars. . The instructions for assembly were pretty straight forward. I spent about 8+ hrs. (I’m 78 yrs old and can’t bend as easily as I once could) putting it together with only a few minor “do overs.” The finished product as I said is lovely. The drawers slides, as expected, are a bit tricky and can be and are a bit out of sorts in the finished product. In my case, the top drawer won’t stay closed (see next sentences) and the bottom is a bit jammed, so make sure you get that part of assembly right. NOTE: WHEN IT SHOWS WALL ANCHORS, THERES A REASON…THE CABINET IS NOT WELL BALANCED AND FALLS FORWARD WHEN YOU OPEN THE TOP DRAWER. And if it isn’t anchored, DO NOT OPEN BOTH DRAWERS AT SAME TIME. My cabinet is not against a wall, so I added small furniture lifts under the front legs to create a slight front elevation to get the cabinet to stay put when using the drawers. One suggestion to Magellan is to also add (or offer as option) a sturdier false bottom like in a desk drawer, as I would like to place office items in the drawers not just hang files. Their drawer bottoms are just heavy (though not strong) cardboard. Overall, I’m pleased with the look though not as happy overall as I had hoped. Maybe this review will help others in their purchasing.

Perfect
This is a great piece of furniture! Exactly what I wanted. A file cabinet that looks like a night stand. A+++

Depth is an issue.
This file cabinet could be a little deeper. When you have both drawers open it will tip over.

A B C 1 2 3 and So Incredibly Easy!
Although I purchase a lot of things from Amazon, I rarely write a review. But, I was compelled to write this one simply based on the ease of which my three pieces of the Realspace Magellan Classic Cherry collection went together. I purchased the L-shaped desk, the bookcase and this 2-Drawer Lateral File Cabinet. Each unit arrived packaged in glued and taped cardboard boxes delivered by a local office delivery company. Yes, all of the boxes are all fairly heavy in weight and contain numerous pieces. I suggest being extremely careful if using a utility knife to cut open the boxes as the blade could cut into the pieces inside.I carried a few pieces at a time upstairs to my home office and placed them along the walls with the letter stickers facing out. Then I separated each of the individual bags of hardware and placed them in numerical order. The number on the hardware bags match the page number of the instructions. I discovered that a couple steps have already been done. It also helps in many cases to leave a small amount of looseness whenpieces are to be fastened using the screws to allow for everything to fit better.Bottom line is, if you know your alphabet (and you should) and can count up to let's say twenty (20). this will turn out great for you!

Challenging to construct and falling apart.
I purchased bookcase this because it matched a corner desk unit I purchased and put together a year ago (this desk unit was a breeze to assemble). This bookcase had pages and pages of directions. While I appreciated the bags containing the hardware needed for each step the directions were often confusing. When I got to the final steps and tried to insert the bottom drawer, part of it shredded from base. Since the screw insert was stripped I was able to drill a few more holes and use some spares (the product does come with a few spares of some of the hardware) and I was able to insert the bottom drawer but it would not slide in and out easily and did not line up with the top. The top drawer stayed together but it catches on the left slide constantly and does not line up with the bottom drawer. Overall this was a bad experience with a bad outcome. As soon as I have time now that stores are reopening, I will look for a prepared product that hopefully matches the color
