A great book by Lee Reich
I grow figs and this is a great book with a ton of useful info on colder location fig growing.Note, there is another book with the exact same name by a different un-named author and no publishing company named on it. That other book by the same nene is not useful.THIS is the book you want! Fantastic!

easy read with great pictures
This book was excellent. It was easy to understand whether you were a new fig grower or an established one like myself who has grown figs for 33 years. I learned so many little tips and ideas that it made me realize how much I did not know. Can't wait for summer to come.

Pricey for a tiny book....
If I were starting out with figs I would find this book helpful. It is a very small book, but covers good info.

great advice on growing figs
So far I failed to kill two fig trees, but this year was the first time I actually harvested some figs. This book is full of advice on how to grow figs in colder climates and helped me understand my trees much better. I made some changes - next year will tell whether they were any good.

A solid and complete fig manual for cold areas
I found this to be a thorough manual for growing figs in cold climates and I appreciated the various options that were explored, such as greenhouse vs outside, etc.

Very basic, really not worth reading unless you are a complete novice.
This book is a basic intro on figs in cold climates. It is nothing like the 'complete guide' advertised on the cover. There simply isn't much text; it is stretched out with alot of white space and large photos to give the impression of a full-sized book.If you have never considered the possibility of growing figs, then this wouldn't be a bad place to start. The information presented is accurate and digestible. But if you have any experience at all, you won't find much of value in this book.I was hoping that this book would help me to improve upon my not-very-developed fig-growing skills. But it has nothing beyond novice or maybe intermediate-level info. Just as examples of the omissions- there is nothing at all on summer pruning to encourage fruiting or ripening, and no chapter on propagation techniques. How can you publish a 'complete guide' that entirely omits propagation?I guess my recommendation is that slow-paced as youtube videos can be, you will learn more in the hour you spend with them than in the hour it takes to read through this thin book.

Great book
Very helpful if you love or even mildly enjoy a fig every now and then. Even if you live in the less pleasant parts of Canada, growing your own figs is possible.

Good clear information
Have been looking for ages for a clearly written book for growing a patio fig in the north. Most books/information is for fig trees and in the US or warmer climates. This book was excellent in that it covers colder climates and descriptions and pictures are very clear and easy to understand.

About growing figs
This book is about growing fig trees in colder climate areas (n.b. the writer is a Canadian) and not intended if you are living in a warmer climate zone. This said, the book provides interesting insights and ideas on most adapted fig varieties, how to fertilize, how to prune, solutions for protecting your fig trees in the winter, etc.Excellent book!

Almost no info on fig plant nourishment
Although the book describes the growing methods quite sufficiently for a beginner and even more advanced growers it misses some very important things about nutritional requirements for figs. Only two pages of very general information on how to nourish fig plants. Growing figs in pots is challenging, especially to provide the necessary micronutrients, to know what amendments to provide and how to know what nutrients are missing.
