Yup it’s a magnet. And it’s strong. Works like a magnet should.

These are the first ceramic magnets I had purchased, so I do not have a comparative factor. However, I have some positive things to say, and a warning. Let’s get the warning done with first. These are ceramic, and like anything ceramic one most be gentle while handling them. I payed attention as to not allow the magnet to “slap” together, but let them “slid” together while holding them. A small sliver came off the outer edge of one while attempting to let them slid together and one seamed to jump from my hand about 1/2 inch from the other, they are powerful enough to leap from your hand if you do not have a solid grip. Be careful though, watch where you have your fingers, because you can get “slide bite”, they can pinch. This also I experienced. The good. The magnets were well packaged. The styrofoam inside the box is of the kind that does not break into small bits easily, you can feel confident to reuse the packaging to store these magnets. The magnets do not leave any dust on your fingers, something I was worried about. I have nothing to say as to how much power they will provide in my planned electrical generator. I have not built that yet. But judging from the magnetic field and pull these little doughnut magnets they will produce the juice I need to power some LEDs and charge my phone.
